that's it really. She hates it, I work full time, sometimes it just doesn't happen. Is there anything wrong with only bathing a child every other day?

1 yo DS gets one everyday tbh he loves bath time and he won't settle off without one. I work Ft too but Dp does bath time Grin

Haha, maybe one of those folding rain bonnets you can tie under his chin then, Moomins ?! Wink

Seriously though... Him loving it is the key, isn't it? Bathe your kids daily if they love it and you want to; and if not, don't!

valiumredhead · 14/11/2012 08:57

I always used to bath ds in the evenings before bed so it made him nice and relaxed for bed.

valiumredhead · 14/11/2012 08:57

YANBu though!

Moominsarescary · 14/11/2012 09:10

That's it! The last thing you want to be doing is fighting with them when you don't get in from work until 7.

MummyPig24 · 14/11/2012 09:23

YANBU if its a rush and your dc doesn't like it. Not worth the hassle. I bath my kids around 5/6 times a week. And feel guilty on the nights I don't! It just feels like such a routine. Ds is a sweaty child so had a shower every day in the summer. The kids enjoy their baths, have no skin conditions and I don't work so its fine for us.

akaemmafrost · 14/11/2012 09:25

Every other day here. Very occasionally it stretches out to 3 days if we have a late night.

BionicEmu · 14/11/2012 10:18

DS is 2 and I probably give him a bath 2/3 times a week. He absolutely hates baths though, and the shower is even worse.

Similar to you, on a work day we don't get in until 7pm, so he's normally in bed by 8pm, but I have to wake him up at 7am the next morning (he normally sleeps until 8:30-9am). I don't want to have him going to bed any later just for a largely unecessary (?sp) bath.

MrsBungleBear · 14/11/2012 10:24

I started off bathing DD (who is now 3.5) every day. When she started nursery at 11 months old she was far too tired for a bath on nursery nights (3 days a week).

Now I bathe her and DS (6 months) every couple of days - occasionally every 3 days (would obvs bath them if they were dirty).

PseudoBadger · 14/11/2012 10:26

I bath DS after swimming on Monday, after 3 days at childminder is finished on Thursday and again on Saturday. He's just too tired for a bath after the CM!

HeavenlyWineandRoses · 14/11/2012 10:31

I was told there was a clear link between daily baths and eczema so gladly changed from daily baths to baths as and when needed. This seems to be daily in the summer but as few as twice a week in the winter.

RandallPinkFloyd · 14/11/2012 10:46

Ds is 15 months old and has been bathed once or twice a week since birth!

I've never top and tailed him either Blush

He's had skin like a peach since the day he was born.

I'm more than aware that this is pure luck!

wonderingsoul · 14/11/2012 11:19

every other day, normally. though its every day in the summer. not due to to them being dirty but becasue its nice to have a cool/warm bath and feel fresh after a hot day.

i also make them bath wether they need it or not on the days i put new bedding on.. purely becasue (i think any way) its nice tyo get into a nice clean bed with yummy smelling blankets after a bath where you know your clean. just makes it feels nicer.. though i am aware i may be a bit crazy like that lol/ Blush

We aim for every other day with 2.8yo DD1 but since the arrival of 6wo DD2 it often ends up being every 3rd day. And DD2 gets a bath once a week, but babies don't really get dirty; they don't eat food, they don't play outside. Although I was temped to hose her down after a spectacular leaky poo earlier today.
