To have been annoyed by this

Just got back from walking my dogs in my local park and saw two pieces of paper stuck on two trees up there. They were both posters done by a child and the first one said "Please clean up after your dog" which is fair enough. The second however said "Please keep your dog on a lead". Having walked my dogs in this park off lead for the last 16 years I have never seen a sign or been told they must be on lead. I understand people let their dogs act like complete hooligans and these people should keep their dogs on a lead but mine are both well behaved and do as they are told. I have as much right to use the park as a child and yet I don't go round telling kids what to do! Just annoyed me quite a bit.

Er, I didn't say anything about cats in parks, I am comparing behaviours, not locations. Oh and most dogs will snarl or growl as a warning before biting. I think Outraged is summing it all up better than me....

From the RSPCA Website.

Exercise is important for dogs and the RSPCA recommend that you should provide your dog with access to a suitable place where it can exercise at least once a day. A suitable place is somewhere that it can explore, play and meet other dogs if appropriate.

It is hard to play and tire out a dog on a lead.

Everyone here seems to treat all dog owners the same. What about those who are out with their dogs in all weathers, all seasons and train, train, train their pets to be good doggy citizens? Why should they be punished?

...and this thread is why I exercise my dog in the woods or on common land, but not parks. That way, I don't have to worry about stray toddlers and I don't meet anyone who thinks they have more right to be there than me and my mutt. I have a spaniel, and if he was kept on a lead all the time he'd go around the twist.

Every time I go to the park I have to shoo dogs away from my baby's pram. I would prefer it if their owners either kept their dogs on a lead or muzzled them. Frankly it's pretty intimidating to have large dogs - sometimes more than one at the same time approaching us. Responsible dog owners do go out of their way to keep their dogs away from us but most don't.

Been up the park this morning and both posters are gone. Guess I wasn't the only person who was annoyed by them!
