To think about standing in the Tesco car park...

ElphabaTheGreen · 06/11/2012 19:47

...wearing a sandwich board saying:

PARENT AND CHILD SPACES ARE NOT FOR LARDY-ARSES WITH TEENAGERS.

I literally cannot get my baby out of the car if I don't have the extra space. Unlike Miss Thang going to the ATM who looks vacuous when I give her a filthy look for taking a space which is rightfully mine. Or the family with FULLY AMBULANT under-10s-but-over-3s.

Can you tell it was pissing it down when I went to do a top-up shop today?

the best think about P&C spaces, is that by avoiding them (as I do even with toddler and bump) you can easily avoid the rudest and worst drivers in the car park - they all congregate at P&C to compete over who is most important and they'll plow you down if you dare to be near their stupidly big cars! They're fat too important to LOOK before they pull out.

But why have them at all if I'm denied use of them? Shouldn't your issue be with the people who decided such spaces were a good idea in the first place, leading to world-owes-me-a-living indignants such as myself?

I'm overweight but I'm not lazy, I can't work because I've never had a job and the goats can't feed themselves, anyway, I have 8 children so the only transport that suits is a transit mini bus (which I get free with my DLA) I have to park over two P&C spaces because it's so big and I cant park further away because if the DWP see me walk more than 50m then the shit will hit the fan.

Plus you should try pushing a trolley full of pizza, fruit shootz and goat feed to the far end of the carpark, cos i wont be.

LilBlondePessimist · 06/11/2012 20:59

So now all parents with young children who want to make like a bit easier are entitled, rude, bad drivers, potential attempted murderers? Wow! Amazing the things you find out on here. And here was me thinking I was just a slightly stressed, incredibly busy mum of three, soon to be four kids trying to get on with my shopping and make life a bit easier. Confused

Presumably that was aimed at me LilBlonde , it's just that...a benefit should it be available. Not a legal requirement.

Not saying there's anything wrong with using them,it's the ridiculous song and dance about not being able to. Get over it. Only once in a blue moon is a car park ever so full you cannot find a space with one next to it. Only a particularly precious breed of parent care about people without children or indeed "young enough" children (hilarious) park in them.

LilBlondePessimist · 06/11/2012 21:00

Yes, mrsd, my life is busy and often pretty stressful. Do you have any reason to believe its not?

stinkinseamonkey · 06/11/2012 21:01

Shopping is a lot less stessful if you avoid the trolls at the P&C area! (but if you are one of them, as you were!)

NO YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT ...that just applies to the ones who rant and rave about it and get all shitty and puce because people they judge unworthy use their precious spaces - hth

TheReturnOfBridezilla · 06/11/2012 21:02

I park in a distant corner very far away from everybody else because I can't park have two under threes and some heavy duty pram-ware. P and C spaces still aren't big enough. Grin

I've never seen a full car park at my local Tesco thank jeff. Just park elsewhere and save yourself the rage.

gordyslovesheep · 06/11/2012 21:02

joins Mrs DV in dark room

LilBlondePessimist · 06/11/2012 21:03

Apologies alis, got your name wrong, but yes, I was speaking to you. And it's all very well finding two empty spaces beside one another (if you can), but what happens when you get back to your car and the empty space beside you has magically disappeared?

ElphabaTheGreen · 06/11/2012 21:05

I'm also in a position to rant about disabled spaces too, BTW (mum in wheelchair lives with us). The amount of piss-taking with those is equally outrageous, mainly by those who got a blue badge thanks to a recurring hangnail. Or those instances where the disabled individual is the driver and they park then WAIT in the car, in a disabled space, while their able bodied companion goes into the shop.

Oh god...it's starting again...the Daily Mail level of outrage...

What the fuck is it with some of you! Someone, perhaps a first time poster, raises a question. And you pile in with your goats and your in jokes and bully and harass. OK, you are probably not breaking any rules (yes, you, WhoWhat) but you are being unkind and sneery. In my opinion, we should all assess our needs carefully before using any spaces which are extra wide, or near the shop as there are plenty of people who need them more than the majority of us. Some are disabled, but don't have a badge, or infirm, or have children, or are just having to rush for some reason.

But, don't sneer just because you have seen this kind of thread before. Just fuck the fuck off and hide it.

There. Feel better now.

Mrsd I don't need your passive aggresive sympathy or your sarcasm thanks very much. Yes my life is extremely busy, and fucking stressful too. No, that's not only because I am a parent, it is for a myriad of reasons which I'm not inclined to go into right now. But making one small part of my life easier, which isn't harming anyone, by parking in a p+c space shouldn't leave me open to criticism and ridicule.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/11/2012 21:08

LilBlonde - these are children you're getting into a car not elephants.

My mind boggles at how this is being made to sound like the most difficult thing to do in the world.

Op, i think you've been given too hard a time. There were no p&c spaces when I had ds, and I was so very appreciative of them with dd.

I think yanbu, they should be reserved for people with kids who can't get themselves in and out of the seat.

ElphabaTheGreen · 06/11/2012 21:10

I enjoyed your use of 'fuck' enormously Rose and I appreciate the context Thanks

LilBlondePessimist · 06/11/2012 21:11

Did you notice my previous post about parking my trolley between the cars while unpacking as some stupid cunt has reversed into it TWICE, while my kids were in it? Fortunately my kids are a very normal weight, and no, aren't elephants.
