To ask you to try to remember a shampoo from the 80s/90s

I realise this is tenuous and doesn't really belong on this thread but posting here for extra traffic.

There is a 300+ posts thread running on Chat at the moment in which the OP is asking us to remember the name/brand/variety of a shampoo that was sold in late 80s/early 90's.

We think it was Sunsilk/VO5, that kind of brand. It was a see through bottle and the shampoo was lilac/purple. The whole pont of the shampoo was that it made your hair smell great and have a lasting fragrance. The ads that ran in Just 17/ Jackie magazine for it showed a boy sniffing a girl's hair at a party. I seem to remember them being black and white line drawing/cartoon type ads, not colour photographic. Same sort of style as the ads used to be for Compound W, if that means anything to you.

So who has got a secret stash of Just 17's from that period and could have a whizz through.

Please put us out of our misery someone. What was it called?!!!

Timotei shampoo was the one I remember

It wasn't gilbert but I'd definitely try that one.

Mine was in a dark chocolate brown plastic bottle of the same shape. It was white and gloopy. It smelled of marzipan and must have leaned towards the greasy range because that's all I used to use.

I'm not surprised this thread has re-emerged a couple of times - the scents of shampoo is Proustian.
Mmm the almondy VS - that was my posh teenage shampoo. As a student I switched allegiance to the pearly yellow camomole Henara shampoo, which was followed by a similar Jojoba one.

Flex was overpoweringly scented but IIRC was good for volume.

I remember the sample in the magazine. I can remember the smell too.

I remember Lemon Up, Body On Tap & the Lenvie scented shampoos that I LOVED! man they had Giorgio, Obsession..all the 80s perfumes that were very popular back then, I soooo wish someone would bring it back! How hard can it be if Giorgio, Red & Obsession are STILL on the market?

Flex!!! Bloody hell. There was a very odd trend for shaving your legs with Flex conditioner at my school.

Anyone remember the body shop banana shampoo and conditioner? The original one from the 90s that smelt like actual banana? The one they have out now is bright yellow, artificially smelling gloop. So disappointing!
