AIBU?

To ask you to try to remember a shampoo from the 80s/90s

I realise this is tenuous and doesn't really belong on this thread but posting here for extra traffic.

There is a 300+ posts thread running on Chat at the moment in which the OP is asking us to remember the name/brand/variety of a shampoo that was sold in late 80s/early 90's.

We think it was Sunsilk/VO5, that kind of brand. It was a see through bottle and the shampoo was lilac/purple. The whole pont of the shampoo was that it made your hair smell great and have a lasting fragrance. The ads that ran in Just 17/ Jackie magazine for it showed a boy sniffing a girl's hair at a party. I seem to remember them being black and white line drawing/cartoon type ads, not colour photographic. Same sort of style as the ads used to be for Compound W, if that means anything to you.

So who has got a secret stash of Just 17's from that period and could have a whizz through.

Please put us out of our misery someone. What was it called?!!!

Around 1978 I used to buy a Wella conditioner that was thick and pink in a clear cylindrical bottle. I have fine hair and his stuff was magical, made it all thick and glossy. As always it was discontinued and I have never found anything as good since

When I was about 8 I invented my own shampoo. It was made from a concoction of Alberto balsam, head and shoulders, brut shaving foam and Epsom salts. It was to be called silk wash and make me millionaire sigh

Not that I have been googling Finesse shampoo or anything on a Saturday night but I have found this. Brought back such memories.

You can still buy finesse in the US.
It doesn't have the same 'old' smell unfortunately.

I'm grieving for Flex! It was wonderful. They don't make 'em like they used to . . . .

nokidshere I LOVED Flex - I had very long hair and couldn't stop sniffing it myself. I was also very fond when a kid of Woodleigh Green Apple Shampoo (though it stripped your hair)

I know this a zombie thread and I probably posted on it originally to say Flex was the ultimate in shampoo smells.

It was powerful enough to overcome indoor smoking.

It was sunsilk Gilbert

There was also a slightly more subtle shampoo by Vidal Sassoon that smelled of marzipan and came in a brown bottle.

Not that subtle because it was white and glistening and came in a brown bottle.

As a child I liked the Apple shampoo that came in different apple scents for different hair types, so there was green apple for oily hair, Yellow for dry, and red for normal. They were the colours of the apples and had subtly different apple scents. I can't remember who made them, but it was a big shampoo brand. (mid 70s).
