DH said he was off the gym at at 2.30pm 'for a couple of hours'. I prepared dinner with roasties and everthing to be ready at 5pm. He is still not home. Oven now turned off and everything is congealing.

Why didn't you eat it?

NickNacks · 04/11/2012 18:40

I would eat without him, leave his in the kitchen along with the washing up. What have you done?

BadgersBottom · 04/11/2012 18:41

I'd leave his outside for the foxes. Fuck that for rude behaviour - has he got form for this kind of thing?

OHforDUCKScake · 04/11/2012 18:41

Did he know you were cooking roast for that time? If so, HWBU.
If not, he probably just didnt think there was a reason to be back.

OHforDUCKScake · 04/11/2012 18:42

'Has he got form'

Seriously, its worse than'epic' doing the rounds

Everyone on MN is starting this now.

thenightsky · 04/11/2012 18:42

Yes he knew... well at least I think he did. I said I would. He did that 'ok, yeah, whatever' thing as he went out of the door.

OP posts:
nokidshere · 04/11/2012 18:43

I would just plate it up, eat mine and leave his to be reheated later. I don't think he is BU if you didn't tell him that dinner would be ready at 5.

thenightsky · 04/11/2012 18:43

Yes he has 'form'.

But who the fuck needs 4 hours in gym???

Have you got form for frothing about a turn of phrase duck?

Grin
MrsTomHardy · 04/11/2012 18:45

Plate his up and leave it in the microwave, eat yours and carry on with your evening as you wish....
He is an arse!

OHforDUCKScake · 04/11/2012 18:46

Yes. But this one is the worst recently.

Goats are involved.

SolidGoldYESBROKEMYSPACEBAR · 04/11/2012 18:47

Definitely eat your own dinner, why should you go hungry.

But: are you used to him disappearing for longer than he said he would? Is he vague on time, or does he enjoy jerking you around and accusing you of 'nagging'? Or did you cook dinner as a way to try and oblige him to come home and spend time with you?

ShutTheFrontDoor · 04/11/2012 18:48

Why didn't you eat it?

Shakey1500 · 04/11/2012 18:48

I'd eaten mine and left his on the plate to be re-heated. I don't know how long "gym" takes. Have you rang him to check all is well before putting dinner in the bin? Could he have gone for a pint or something afterwards? Bumped into a pal? Who knows? If he didn't know to be back then YAB a bit U. Unless he does this all the time and usually rolls in steaming drunk at 11pm.

thenightsky · 04/11/2012 18:48

No goats here, honest Grin

I'm away to eat MY dinner!

OP posts:
Shakey1500 · 04/11/2012 18:48

I'd have eaten mine....

thenightsky · 04/11/2012 18:51

So AIBU... is a couple of hours classed as four hours?

I call it two.

OP posts:
OHforDUCKScake · 04/11/2012 18:55

It is two. But unless there were plans/a reason to come back he obviously didnt have a sense of urgency.

Im guessing he's back now? What has he said?

IceNoSlice · 04/11/2012 18:57

I don't think YABU but if he's done it before, perhaps better to be specific with him? Some -men- people need details eg 'ok but be home by 5 for dinner please'

IceNoSlice · 04/11/2012 18:57

Crossing out fail

thenightsky · 04/11/2012 18:58

I did say.... I'll be producing dinner for approx 5pm as he went out. He said.. 'great, yeah, fine, whatever'.

So I took he was actually listening to me.

No he is not back yet.

OP posts:
HecatePhosphorus · 04/11/2012 18:59

sod him.

enjoy your dinner

I'd eat his too Grin

WhoNickedMyName · 04/11/2012 19:00

YANBU.

'A couple' of hours is two - a couple = two.

I'd plate up his food and put it in the fridge for me and the DC to eat tomorrow and let him sort out his own tea.

ThatVikRinA22 · 04/11/2012 19:02

whats he likely to have gone off to do? pub with mates after the gym? does he have a mobile with him? sorry to ask the obvious.....

MerryMarigold · 04/11/2012 19:04

'A couple' does vary in context. A couple of weeks of holiday will always be two. A couple of maltesers could easily be 4. I looked after my friend's kid for a couple of hours could be anything between 1.5 and 3 (but not 4). A couple of hours at the gym could certainly never be more than 2, unless this gym is an hour's drive away.
