DH said he was off the gym at at 2.30pm 'for a couple of hours'. I prepared dinner with roasties and everthing to be ready at 5pm. He is still not home. Oven now turned off and everything is congealing.

A couple is always two, no matter what the context - that's what it means. A few is anything between three and five. Six and above I would spell out specifically.

FromEsme · 04/11/2012 19:13

I'd just eat mine and be a bit pissed off but I probably wouldn't get too irate unless he does this all the time (that is, if he has "form").

If he goes to the gym for 4 hours at a time, is he incredibly fit? If so, I'd probably let him off.

ethelb · 04/11/2012 19:15

Eat it. Put his portion on a late so he can microwave it. I can't see how he can be annoyed by that and if he is put it in the bin.

poocatcherchampion · 04/11/2012 19:16

If he's got fork I wouldn't plate anything up. I'd pack remains away for tomorrow and let him sort himself out.

doinmummy · 04/11/2012 19:23

Have you phoned him?

doinmummy · 04/11/2012 19:24

Just realised he has been gone 5 hours (if he's still not home) I'd be furious.

StuntGirl · 04/11/2012 19:27

I'd have eaten mine without him! Is he back yet?

WhoNickedMyName · 04/11/2012 19:28

I hope he's going to walk thru the front door looking like Daniel Craig emerging from the sea in that James Bond movie.

Because after 5 hours at the gym, he should do Hmm.

Bogeyface · 04/11/2012 19:32

5 hours at the gym, he should be looking buff and if he isnt then he wasnt at the gym and you can add lying to the list of irritations.

I dont know how else to tell what I am thinking......

nokidshere · 04/11/2012 19:33

Well yes - 5 hours is taking the biscuit without a call to let you know where he is!

WhoNickedMyName · 04/11/2012 19:37

Let me be the first to ask....

Are you certain he's at the gym?

thenightsky · 04/11/2012 19:38

well he got in half hour ago.

I said.. 'was the gym reet busy then or summat?'

He said... 'no, why'

Me: Coz you said you'd only be a couple of hours.

Him: Well I have been.

Me: Aye, if you call 4 and half hours a couple... (did this face -> Hmm

Him... God sorry love, I must have got carried away, etc etc.

To those mumsnetters who asked if he was fit/buff... Oh yes, he certainly is Grin

An hour a go I'd of been angry but now I'd be starting to get concerned, hope he is back soon op.

toomuch2young · 04/11/2012 19:40

Glad to here all is well Smile

Hassled · 04/11/2012 19:40

A couple is two. A few is three. Four is just four. It's the law.

FromEsme · 04/11/2012 20:12

You lucky caaaah. You've no grounds to complain if he's got a good body.
