I had about five loads of washing which I decided to get washed as I felt I was drowning in it. (pregnant, 3 other dcs and itys half term). All good so far.

Laundrette came collected and have just returned it all washed and folded up - great. However, I nearly fell over when he said it was £100!!!!!!!!

I know I shoul have checked the price but have used before and the same amount to be washed and ironed was £20 more

confused

I

That's ridiculous! You could have given me a tenner and a cup of tea and I'd have done it for you.

JEEZY CHREEZY! I'd be more than a little shocked. I have a newfound appreciation for my washing machine now.

OMG

It wasn't even ironed for that priceShock

Bloody hell I would have done it for free for you and ironed it even though I hate ironing!

That is shocking. Given that you can buy a good domestic washing machine for not much more than double and run it for £27 per year I'm not surprised you feel ripped off. Makes me think the Eastenders going to Dot Cotton for a service wash were all terribly extravagant.

A service wash and dry is 7 quid, and thats 2 normal loads.

You are in the UK?

I cant see drop off and collection would add in that much more, unless you live in London and you used an Aberdeen launderette

Wow, that's a lot! Last time I used a launderette we were camping and I think it was about £8 per load (washed, dried and folded).

They took away washed ironed and brought back? Presume was either by weight or number of items. Our local dry cleaner did 25 items (inc men's shirts) for £15 recently. Tried another and 15 item cost £22 coz I didn't check and was weighed!

It's poss not too far out depending which method, I'm guessing weight...

They didn't iron it. They weighied it, was 44ib apparently plus delivery, 3 miles max. Shock I will never use them again, thinking of ringing up and quering it, prehaps they charged for ironing too by accident?

Oh and I am having a really crap day, my car tyre has been slashed. Angry

44lbs would be about 2 big suitcases worth? I can't see how that's £100 at all, unless the pick up and delivery is 50 quid on its own?

My lovely friend does all my washing free, and she has been for over a year.

They must have made a mistake, is there any way you can check their prices?

Report
charlottehere · 02/11/2012 15:37

My local launderette charge £1 a kg. I took down 4 binliners stuffed with laundry (like you I had got a bit behind). It cost £19. No collection or delivery but washed, dried, folded and more exciting than anything else, socks paired Grin

£100 is outrageous.

You got RIPPED off :-(

charlottehere · 02/11/2012 15:52

I expected it to be £25 max. Shock I think they have the monopoly as there is no one else who does it round here. Sad

I think they need to have told you what the price would be in advance in order for it to be a valid contract - it might be worth checking that out.

Report
ZillionChocolate · 04/11/2012 09:31

QueenStromba I disagree that a contract needs an agreed price. If there's no price agreed then it should be reasonable.
