It's not OK to put your dog crap in my wheelie bin

The bin men have changed our collection time its now late afternoon. DD2 and I went to the post office and when we came back bin emptied. All good so far. DD2 asks are we going to take the bin in but because I couldn't be arsed to wash my hands yet again, I said no leave it. Then I forgot about it until next morning.

Next morning went to retrieve bin and throw a black sack in and there in the bottom was ...... a package of dog poo.

Why?

If I wanted dog poo in my bin, I'ld have my own bloody dog. I am now the custodian of poop for a week. Why should I be just because I didn't take my bin in quick enough.

I suspect it was the woman who deliberately brings her greyhounds to the small greenward in front of my house to let her dogs have a crap and piss up the cherry trees. She lives about 2 minutes walk away. I suppose the doggy brigade will say be thankful she bags her dogs poo. So why then be so inconsiderate as to dump it in my bin.

Yes I'm annoyed.

Well, your bin stinks regardless, unless you have magic smell free trash? Even if you compost and recycle, there is an odour to your bin.

BumpInTheNightFuglies · 02/11/2012 07:32

I like to CHOOSE my bin-stink Tee Grin

MrsMuddyPuddles · 02/11/2012 07:36

I have magic smell free rubbish- the secret is that our council has a food waste recycling programme, so all the smelly stuff goes in there! :o

I am also one of the people who is confused as to why you mind having ONE bag of dog poop at the bottom of your bin... it's a rubbish bin. you will put your rubbish in it.

Or maybe you are in the habit of letting your children play in it? Or binning something, then changing your mind and having to dive back in to get it?

MothershipG · 02/11/2012 07:38

I can kind of see why you wouldn't want other people to use your bin, would it bother you less if it was just litter?

But it seems that this was a one off because you didn't take your bin in so I think YABU to get quite so put out about it.

MrsVincentPrice · 02/11/2012 07:38

It's not great but she's bagged up her dog's shit, she's put the bag in a bin - so two out of three ain't bad.

Idocrazythings · 02/11/2012 07:38

No. Yanbu it's rude! When my child poos his nappy, I put it in a nappy sac and take it home, its not that hard to do! unless I am somewhere that has designated nappy bins. I dont leave it in a normal bin. It's poo, it smells and your bin was empty. Some people like to clean their bins after being emptied. RUDE!

VivaLeBeaver · 02/11/2012 07:38

I've thought about doing this while walking along carrying a bag of dog poo past loads of wheelie bins. But then thought that no, it's to my bin, people might not want dog poo in it, etc. so yanbu.

dustyhousewithdustypeople · 02/11/2012 07:42

YANBU, it will smell horrible, especially after a week. I don't see why you should have to put up with even the tiniest inconvenience because of someone else's decision to own a dog.

Idocrazythings · 02/11/2012 07:43

And to add, my bins get emptied by hand so there is no way our bin men would reach in and take that one little bag of shit when their hands are full with large bags. So it would stay there till I picked it out. I would not be impressed if it was my bin.

LtEveDallas · 02/11/2012 07:47

If its bagged and the top is tied it won't stink. Specific Dog poo bags are thicker than nappy sacks because you have to rummage around picking it up . It's one poo FGS.

I really don't understand why it is rude to put rubbish in a rubbish bin?

(nor do I understand why I am talking about poo at 0746 hrs and DD isn't even up... Grin)

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 07:48

Lazy dog owner. Is there a dog poo bin close? They should put it in their own bin anyway. I thought half the joy of dog owning was swinging a little bag of poo as you stroll along. Wink

I am sure the refuse collectors son't expect the bin to be full of dog poo. Sad

FedUpOfRain · 02/11/2012 07:48

YABU - it's a bin, I assume it's kept outside? I don't know why it's so awful? Much better to pop a tied up bag in a passing bin then leave it on the ground outside your house. I agree with the person who said you sound a bit precious!

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 07:49

How about take it home and put it in their own bin though FedUp?

MrsHoarder · 02/11/2012 07:49

Can't believe some people are admitting to this: its not acceptable to put anything in someone else's bin. The problem being that the people who can't get their bins away from the road do not deserve everyone else's rubbish filling their bins up. Yes its better than dropping it in their garden, but that's no bloody excuse, take your litter home with you.

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 07:52
HSMM · 02/11/2012 07:55

People put their dog poo in our wheelie bin too! The bin men do not put the bin on the truck, they lift the bag out, so I have to get the dog poo out and put it in my bag.

Idocrazythings · 02/11/2012 07:55

It's rude because its a freshly emptied bin and some people like to clean their bins weekly and put bin liners in them to keep them from smelling too much. If the bin already had the owners rubbish in and it was one that didn't get emptied by hand then it would be ok. And my nappy bags dont really smell because I flush the poo then squeeze out the air before I tie the bag, but I still take them home. And I don't know why I'm talking about poo either! Especially since I'm eating!

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 07:57

More and more rude things are deemed acceptable on here lately. Sad

HSMM · 02/11/2012 07:58

And we have to pay for our bin bags and the council will only collect rubbish in their special bags. It seems most people think it's ok to use other people's bins, so I will put all my rubbish in random bins from now on and save myself a fortune. I always thought putting rubbish on private property was fly tipping.

greeneyed · 02/11/2012 07:59

YABU, I thought I was pretty intollerant but even I wouldn't get my knickers in a twist over this

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 08:00

No HSMM it's absolutely fine apparently. I am just about to go out and transfer all my rubbish into the neighbour's wheelie. Keep mine squeaky clean. Genius!

Tee2072 · 02/11/2012 08:00

It's not private property if the bin gas been sitting on the pavement waiting for collection. That's county or city property.

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2012 08:01

We aren't allowed to put them on the pavement. The instructions are to put them 'on the edge of your property'.

HSMM · 02/11/2012 08:08

But it's my private bin! Can you put you rubbish on my car, because it's parked on a public road?

gorionine · 02/11/2012 08:11

It's not private property if the bin gas been sitting on the pavement waiting for collection. That's county or city property.

The council provided us with sticky labels to put the name of the street and number of the house on each bin. I assume this makes me responsible for what is in my bin, therefore I would appreciate passers by not dumping their rubbish in it.

YANBU!
