hi have never posted before but wanted an opinion. i was in town the other day with my 21 month and 4 month old. it was raining and my 4 month old was crying for a breastfeed. i went into my bank and asked if i could please use one of there rooms to feed my baby. a lady looked at me like i was mad and said sorry we are not allowed. why do i still feel, after breast feeding 5 children, that people look at me with disgust and that using boobs to feed a baby is something to be hidden away from public view so that no one has to deal with it. dont get me wrong i am not a flop it out anywhere feeder and am always discreet but babies dont always want feeding when u are by a mothercare. should i write a letter to the bank and complain????

On the other hand, I was trying to sort out a child trust fund for my 6 week old and she woke up unexpectedly, and decided she was hungry. I got supplied with a seat in one of their offices, a drink, extra entertainments for my 2 year old (he would have tolerated the 2 minute transaction but not a whole feed...) and a choice of privacy or my transaction to be continued while I fed (I chose the latter.) (Nationwide by the way)

Hilarious! You sound bonkers.

I breast-fed for 2 yrs. Never once felt the need to do it in my local Barclays though.

I'm not one but surprised they looked at you like this Hmm Anyone would!

I worked for a bank this won't be allowed. You should have sat in the banking hall and flopped it out Grin

Ps I bf two!

Madder, it was Nationwide who were accommodating to me when I was BFing at a mortgage appointment too :)

kim147 I fed DD in a police station once and a very embarrassed looking young PC asked me to move to an interview room as "we get lots of very unpleasant people coming in here madam". On the way to interview room he said if i wanted complete privacy he could ask the custody sergeant if he had a spare cell. I THINK he was joking but i oped for the interview room and the lovely cup of tea they brought me

Mybabyseyes · 31/10/2012 23:03

Yabu. I feed wherever. People have been nothing but nice to me. I use a sling so most people don't notice & I have fed at very public places- shopping centres, wembley stadium, the olympics. Grin
It's only a big deal if you make it one.

I don't think you quite understand what "breast feeding on demand" actually means, OP.

The baby is supposed to be the one doing the demanding.

Not the mother.

(This cant be real. Surely no one would be this stupid?)
