to wear a killer cleavage blouse to a job interview

A white one at that - and it isn't even an interview for a waitress.

Thing is, i dont have any money to buy any new clothes (scoured charity shops today nothing suitable) So i have a white blouse that is quite fitted and there IS cleavage (im a big girl so its either cleavage or frumpy)

OR silver grey blouse with no cleavage but it doesn't really go with black suit?

Not 100% happy with ither really but the white looks better

The serious question is - will i look like a waitress??

job as a lapdancer? fine.

Viviennemary · 30/10/2012 15:56

I agree with T shirt or something under the blouse. Certainly not the blouse on its own to an interview. Or somebody suggested a scarf. That's a good idea.

Sazzle41 · 30/10/2012 16:00

Silver grey and black is fine. White shirt and cleavage sends totally the wrong message - its not 'corporate'.... (ie. sober suit and subtle make up). The white shirt/waitress thing is why you never see women at the multi national i work at rocking that look. Ever. Not to denigrate waitresses but in London, thats all waitresses every wear....Dress for the job you want, not the job you are in as well..... best advice i ever had.

PostBellumBugsy · 30/10/2012 16:08

lucyellen - glad you're going with the grey. Boobage at interviews (for clothed jobs!) never a good idea.

Make sure you do feel comfortable in your outfit. It is really distracting trying to interview someone who is fiddling, twitching, pulling & smoothing their clothes because they never wear them & feel uncomfortable!

Good luck - hope you get the job.

fromparistoberlin · 30/10/2012 16:09

nooooooooooooo

I interviewed a girl and she had a massive arse-like-cleavage, yuk

No, again

MrsMuddyPuddles · 30/10/2012 16:34

What's wrong with feeling frumpy on a job interview? Is there any way you can dress the grey up with scarves/jewlrey to make you feel more cheerful and friendly?

I think looking frumpy is better than looking like you'd be up for the casting couch, myself...

carabos · 30/10/2012 17:25

Scarf is a good idea and frumpy is fine for an interview. You don't want to be remembered as the candidate with the cleavage.

Best of luck.

Freshbloodletticia · 30/10/2012 19:31

Wear a scarf or a vest underneath. IMO cleavage is inappropriate at a job interview. I have one too, so I know it ain't easy to hide.
And good luck!

midseasonsale · 30/10/2012 20:11

go grey or scarf

KittyFane1 · 30/10/2012 21:46

Grey with black suit is good! I agree, no boobs on show at an interview.
The only bosses it would impress be ok with are ones you wouldn't want to work for.

Sulfur · 30/10/2012 21:51

You can get a perfectly serviceable shirt from Dorothy Perkins, even in big sizes, for less than £5.

Don't kid yourself or anyone else that poverty and tastelessness are one and the same.

Unless you really don't want the job.

DappyHays · 30/10/2012 21:58

A crisp white shirt is a winner. Cleavage not so much. I'd go with the shirt with a white cleavage-hiding vest underneath or a lovely scarf over the top (or both).

If you feel good/confident, I think you are more likely to impress at an interview. Miles of cleavage though...no. A little is okay, and I mean a little.

LFCisTarkaDahl · 30/10/2012 22:02

So how much cleavage is ok then ? Confused

I have 36J's and even with a camisole there is still a couple of inches of cleavage. Not barmaidy at all, but there's no way I'd wear a roll neck.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 30/10/2012 22:08

Can someone explain the waitress reference thing to me please? Is it the white shirt with black suit combination?

lucyellenmum · 30/10/2012 22:33

sulfer thats a bit strong!! What i said in my OP is that i wasn't sure what blouse to wear, the white blouse showed cleavage (not actually that much to be fair) but not a great deal and not "on purpose" i wasn't looking for the cleavage look, my dilemma was the the colour, but the grey blouse looked ok anyway.

LFC, im a 38FF so im a big girl too, and its is almost impossible to minimise the boobage unless i bandage it up Grin

The interview went OK, they asked me if i would be available for a second interview - to be fair i don't think i concealed my Hmm face very well, as its pretty much a data input job that is barely more than minimum wage so i was a bit Shock at a second interivew. They did seem very nice people though, i think i'd fit in.

I am not sure cleavage would have been appreciated, the lady interviewer was very proper and the guy looked like he might have had a heart attack :)

alliwantisaroomsomewhere - i dont really know where it came from, but i asked a male friend of mine if he thought cleavage and white shirt was ok and he said no dear, you'll look like a waitress! :)

Bogeyface · 30/10/2012 22:40

Suffer what a shitty thing to say! I have been in a place where £5 for a new shirt was out of the question before now, so dont make assumptions. You dont why the OP cant afford it, and it is none of your fucking business! Just answer on the basis of the facts given, stop being bitchy.

Lucy I worked as a waitress/barmaid and I can tell you that the last thing you get is knockers bouncing about all over the place! You "friend" clearly watches too much porn!

I hope you get the job :)

lucyellenmum · 30/10/2012 22:43

LMAO Bogeyface - yes, he probably does :) I was only asking him because he works in a similar environment! But it wasn't the cleavage it was the colour. Saying that he did go on to recommend stockings and high heels (but was joking about that!)

OP posts:
lucyellenmum · 30/10/2012 22:44

and yeah, even if you could buy a shirt for less than a fiver in Dotty Ps, i actually don't have £5 to spare just now! Thats the irony of being out of work, also its not bad taste, it was, hmmm, this white blouse fits me the best, but it shows a bit of cleavage, i wasn't sure i could get away with it, so i came here to check.

OP posts:
Bogeyface · 30/10/2012 22:48

You cant get them for less than a fiver at Dotty Ps anyway. George at Asda, yes, but they dont tend to fit too well. I was 34FF before my breast surgery, so you have my sympathies.

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 30/10/2012 22:51

if you buy a cheap blouse from asda, they will just gape at the boobage anyway, so problem not solved [hsmile]

lucyellenmum · 30/10/2012 22:55

happymothefucker - yep, gapage is a serious problem for me :)

Sober grey it was though!

lovebunny job as a lap dancer? i wish Wink

OP posts:
HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 30/10/2012 22:58

I don't have either the gapage or the cleavage problem

thankfully

lucyellenmum · 30/10/2012 23:10

Oh i don't know happy, i've had my two best friends all my adult life, im quite fond of them Grin Do give terrible backache though!

There really is not middle ground though when you are "blessed" in the booby department, its either cleavage agogo or frumptastic.

OP posts:
numbum · 30/10/2012 23:28

Arent you the same OP who asked about taking doughnuts to an interview and if it was ok to do a zombie escape plan for a presentation? You really need a job so you stop posting mundane/unbelievable questions about interviews
