Grrrr!!!! I am doing some shopping online for Xmas and DDs 2nd birthday which is Xmas eve. She is mr tumble mad so I was really pleased to ding they did Mr T toys exclusively in tesco - except, they are currently out of stock.

Had a quick look on EBay and there are dozens and dozens of the same toys for sale at massively inflated prices! I know everyone has to make a living but I'm really upset by this!

I'm not sure what to do. Money is tight especially with a birthday and Xmas but I know DD would LOVE these toys. Do I just buy them off eBay and get them less or hope that tesco gets more in and I'm lucky enough to but one before the eBay vultures descend?

I feel like emailing the sellers and telling them that they are out of order. A few quid more I could accept but they are doubling and tripling the price in some cases. Sad Angry.

The thing is, they mostly appear to be business sellers. If I bought off them tesco have still made a profit, as has the seller and eBay as well through fees. The only person who is disproportionately out any money would be me.

Right, I see that most people think AIBU so I will stop complaining about it and just cross my fingers that I can get the toys through tesco somehow or can find one much more reasonable on eBay.

Thanks everyone for their views and taking the time to reply Smile.

Good advice mosman. The only thing is my older DC know that DD's birthday is the day before Xmas so they might realise something us amiss. But I will do the toy exchange thing, thank you.

i hope you get sorted with something OP. and dont stress yourself out over it if you cant get this exact toy. as i said, you still have time to persuade her she likes something else that tesco sell. 2 year olds can be very fickle Grin

I don't RBI k yabu. It's called profiteering and I don't like it one bit. However whilst people are prepared to pay silly inflated prices for something they think they need it will continue.

MoetEtPantsOn · 28/10/2012 01:42

I just wanted to express some sympathy. DD2 was given a soft toy from Asda when she was born which she started to love at around 6 months old. By that time, Asda had stopped selling them but eBay was awash with them. I bought a few for spares and for while one was in the wash, all the time moaning about not being able to find them at the supermarket.

She's two now and still loves them so it was definitely worth the pain. I don't know how much they were originally but have cheered myself up that I didn't pay silly prices for them, plus there would only have been so many Asdas I would have been prepared to visit one would be too many frankly so the ebayers actually allowed me some convenience. I had to pay the price for that.

Our tescos have lots of something special toys, let me know if u want me to pick anything up x

TheReturnOfBridezilla · 28/10/2012 15:37

Sympathies. It sucks. I tend to give my dc toys awy when they have outgrown them, to charity shops or nursery or people we know. I'm obviously missing a trick. Grin

halloweeneyqueeney · 28/10/2012 15:46

if you don't like the price, don't buy from them, free country!

why would anyone NOT want to make a profit

if people are not happy to pay those prices they will have to drop them, if they don't drop them it means that lots of people think it's a reasonable price

get a grip!

pigletmania · 28/10/2012 16:00

YANBU at all, up it's not fair on other people

TheBigJessie · 28/10/2012 16:04

We live in a capitalistic society, and a big event is two months away. Therefore, I speculate than Tesco will get those toys in stock again before December 23rd!

Tesco want people to Buy Stuff From Tesco. Don't worry. Just keep checking back or sign up for email alerts.

lalabaloo · 28/10/2012 19:24

Whoopie, the Tesco near us have Mr tumble bags in stock, its also 3 for 2 on toys in Tesco at the moment. If you want me to get it message me and I can post it and you can transfer the money?

TreeFuMom · 28/10/2012 19:34

I saw the spotty bags our Tesco yesterday, so not sold out everywhere. Try calling customer services and they can tell you where they have them in stock.

StateofConfusion · 28/10/2012 19:45

Our tesco had a range of mr tumble stuff in last week, I only registered the spotty bag but there were certainly 5/6 other things.
