to think that if you find a hair in a friends cake, it is poor form to say so

and in front of people too!

I made a cake for a friends party, just a quick one to take along and I was chatting to my friends dad who was saying how much he loves it when people make cakes as its nicer than a tesco's one. Queue inappropriate mutual friend with a hair in his hand "Well, I found a hair in mine!" and brandishing it like a winning lottery ticket. What did he want me to do? If I were a shop I would have given him a refund but I am just a guest who thought it would be nice to take something homemade along. Having thought on it, I don't think I would say. Its like dumping on someone who has only tried to do something nice. AIBU?

Do note: I have long hair, I tie it back and wear a scarf when Im cooking but it still got in there.

YANBU, that is incredibly rude!

I wouldn't finish the cake but I wouldn't say a word.

"Enjoy your hairy cake!" did make me laugh. Haha.
The man was rude. Just put it to the side of your plate, no need to draw attention to it.

Ladyevilbeagle, that sounds resourceful of you, and entirely understandable in the circumstances!

Love the post about the difficulties of avoiding hairy cake incidents when home-baking unless you are bald, conjures up images of shiny, bald, every-type-of-body-hair-waxed home chefs!

A live cockroach once climbed out of a cream bun I was served in a cafe.

The proprietor said 'oohh-la' and replaced my cake.

Now that was definitely worthy of comment
