We have booked a lodge in Scotland from sat to Wednesday as a half term break but ds has come out in spots today.... He seems ok in himself but obviously has the pox

Should we still go away? Thoughts please!

I know that what she had was rare but it literally came out of the blue

Poor thing Loie. Hope she's all better now.

On the other hand it is very rare to have consequences that severe. I know a family whose car was hit by a lorry as they went on holiday on the motorway but I'm not sure the OP should stay at home because of that.

You'll know by Saturday how ill he is - eg my DS1 had it mildly and by day 3 was totally fine and spots already crusted over. My DS2 had it badly and by day 3 had raging temperature, couldn't eat due to spots in throat, every last inch of skin covered AND new spots appearing. Definately would not have been good to go on holiday.

Sorry you'll have to wait and see. I would go if he seemed fine and no new spots that day. If its mild won't be infectious by Sunday.
