A friend came round earlier to use my computer. Her broadband has gone kaput and she needed to send some emails urgently.

She came in and the first thing she did was to turn the heating controls right down.

The thermostat is set at 18, it's not cold enough for it to be on anyway, all the radiators are cold.

Bloody cheek. It's irrationally peed me right off

I wonder why as well. I feel the cold very easily and am utterly miserable when I am cold. I never go and stay with my sister in the winter because their house is freezing, and BIL is far too selfish to consider other people's comfort.

MY aunty just celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary I was at her house last week and she was arguing with my uncle about the heating I thought jeez they have been arguing about the heating for 50 years

I used to visit my friend for new year in her old house it was always freezing it was half wood and in the highlands so I forgave her went to her new house in england for new year still cold they are just stingy I now go in june

I do feel the cold, although I don't think 18c is excessive, but it's my bloody house. Hands off it

DH seems to be on a right stingey mission with the heating this autumn - I'm sure he's never been as bad before. As soon as he comes in he's turning the heating off with a quick grumble in his boots (if that makes sense) Maybe I'm feeling the cold more in my old age [hgrin]

tbf, if it's cold you can put a jumper on. If it's hot it's not like you can start stripping off layers

That is very cheeky. If she was too warm, she could have taken a layer off, although it can't have been that hot, if it was at 18. Sometimes I've been in people's houses and been too hot or too cold, but I wouldn't dream of adjusting their heating.

I hate my mum and dads house, its always bloody freezing, I'm always bloody miserable there. I couldnt live like that! I cant even cope for a day. miserable.

I'd have gone straight to it and turned it up to 30!

An alternative is to get my 4yo to shove his freezing cold hands down the back of their necks

DH used to be hot all the time and want the house artic, then he lost 3 stone, now he feels the cold too. So those who are being all morally superior about the heat, point out that they must not feel the cold due to their excess weight and suggest they go on a diet. (FYI, being cold turns me into a bitch)
