Watching Beeny last night reminded me of this (weird flat with bath in bedroom in front of the windows, but no shower).

We've been veiwing houses and I'm really Confused by the number of them that don't have a proper shower that you can actually stand up in. Just those pointless shower heads propped up just above the taps (what are they for ?)

Do people without showers have a bath every day? Confused

MIL did suggest that families with young children would expect/need a bathtub, which may be true. We've always washed the fur-kids dogs in the shower, in fact having to lift them into a bath would be a real pain.

Maybe we'll have to change it when the time comes to sell. I love my shower though :)

YANBU. I only have a bath and long for a shower. Sometimes I use the tap shower thing and pretend I have a shower though! ...Gives me arm ache Grin

If it was a choice between buying a modern estate identikit house with 3 showers and an older style property with 1 but with a bath, I'd always choose the latter.

In fact, I wouldn't even buy a flat without a bath and only a shower. If you do sport in winter, theres nothing to beat a bath for (a) getting heat back into your body after being freezing outdoors all day and (b) easing aches in tired muscles.

I have three showers in my house (slinks away quietly).

It's not really difficult nor expensive to take a shower base/tray out and put a bath in as long as there's room for it - so if you intend to live in the house for a while you should have it how you want it then you can just add a note to the selling details to state there is room for a bath should the vendors wish - or that you will put one in if the buyer wishes - not a biggie.

I, on the other hand, don't intend to live here for too long and dont have room for both a bath & a shower (I am a shower lover myself) and don't want a shower over the bath - the only room that has room for a bath is the lounge - would it be weird to have a bath in the lounge?? Grin

"But in the big scheme of things as long as you've got somewhere to get clean it doesn't really matter does it?"

No, you´re right, of course.

Things move on so quickly.

I´m nearly 50-I think we didn´t have a shower until I was about 12?

Here in Germany we´ve only lived in places with a separate shower & the kids were astonished that GPs don´t have this-they don´t have room.

And now as teens, that not everyone had a mobile, what´s a record player, cassette recorder, vinyl etc.

ChippingInLovesAutumn · 24/10/2012 11:13

Lala if you aren't using all the space in your bathroom could I please have a bit of it?? I only need about 40cm x 170cm to fit in what I want Grin

StaceeJaxx · 24/10/2012 12:14

Our old house only had a bath, took fecking ages for everyone to get ready in the morning. It was a very old house though. Now we have 2 showers and a bath. Grin

Narked · 24/10/2012 12:21

Baths are for children and for relaxing. Showers are for getting clean.

BackforGood · 24/10/2012 12:25

If it came to a choice - spacewise - I'd go for a bath every time. you can still have a shower fitted above the bath, but I couldn't live in a house without a bath. Am amazed at the number there are (on all the property progs I watch).

I just can´t get comfortable enough to read a book.

Think it´s because I´m a shortarse!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/10/2012 13:52

Boring for me too. Spas have the same effect, after 5 minutes I'm thinking about what shopping I need to get on the way home.

JackThePumpkinKing · 24/10/2012 15:40

There's one thing you could do to make baths more interesting...

We have a shower and a bath. The only time I shower is at the gym. I much prefer baths at home.
