To think I shouldn't be guilt tripped into selling my item so cheaply?

I've put an item/bundle on Ebay starting at 99p. However the item (it's a collection of things) cost me approx £150 in total when I bought it new.

I've already got a few watchers, and tonight have received ten messages asking me to put a 'buy it now price' on the auction. Some people are saying they'll give me £15 for it, as postage is £10, and they don't want to pay more than £25 in total.

I've explained that I believe the item will fetch at least £30, and that I don't think it's fair to expect me to deduct postage from this, as I won't be making profit on postage costs.

I also explained that because so many people have asked for a buy it now price, I don't think it's fair to do so now; it's best to leave it as an auction.

Anyhow. Most people responded quite politely. However, one man has become quite agressive, saying that's not how Ebay works. His son's birthday is on Monday and he would therefore like the item(s) bought and wrapped by then. He says that this item will be very special to and appreciated by his son, and is practically begging me to put a buy it now price of £15. I feel terrible, but I don't think it's fair to put this man before the other people who have enquired about the item.

AIBU leaving it as an auction, thus spoiling this man's son's birthday? (item is no longer available instore/discontinued). I feel like a heartless old moo.

I can't believe the cheek of some people. I've just started buying on eBay and would never act like the idiots in these stories!

I had a pita seller a few weeks back.

I had won some hair straighteners and her payment methods were cheque postal order or paypal. I was updating my paypal so messaged her that I would send a postal order. That was fine she said. But within 24 hours she had offered it to the next highest bidder as I hadnt paid. I pointed out that the post isnt instant and she basically said tough, you should have used paypal!

I am getting really annoyed with EBay too. They're really making it very difficult for sellers. For example the cap on P&P on clothing is just ridiculous especially as they encourage you to post with a tracking number because otherwise a seller automatically loses a claim in the event the buyer says they did not receive the item. So basically either you make a substantial loss on P&P or you have to rely on the honesty of the buyer Hmm

The sellers fees are atrocious, really rip you off

Its easy to see how ebay is going as the vast majority of listings are now from companies rather than private sellers. It just isnt worth the effort anymore.

I ignoire people who ask for a Buyitnow price.

Oh and recently someone left me my first ever "neutral" regarding a Desigual blouse I sold and it read "I was hoping for a tighter fit"
Erm, and surely that's the seller's fault? Hmm

dude, loads of people pressure sellers like this, so they can immediately sell the item on. Conning bastards. Just don't engage or explain, just ignore.
