My DS slipped in a huge mound of dog poo today on our front lawn.

I have been informed it is a neighbours dog but the informant is also a neighbour and owns a dog.

The dog poo has appeared on my front lawn for years but my DS fell into it. I was so angry inside. He was covered with it (DS is VI).

I feel I want to ask neighbours not to let their dogs out on tbe front of their house to go to the toilet.

I cannot prove it was anybodies specific dog. I guess it is their dog.

AIBU?

(guess I am if cannot prove it was their dog, think other neigjbour is a liar and trouble maker which winds me up)

You should get one of those signs to put in your garden saying no dogs allowed or something.

Catmint · 22/10/2012 22:10

Our local council lends out a camera for pple to put in their windows, catches pple not cleaning up after their dogs and enables the warden team to dish out fines. I suggest you contact your neighbourhood/dog warden team and find out if they have similar thing.

You can also report dog mess and request that the council come and clean it up - worth checking if yours do the same. If you report it often enough they send out covert dog wardens to catch people not cleaning up after their dogs & fine them (this might go easier on you than having the camera if it is your neighbours!)

imperialstateknickers · 22/10/2012 22:10

Grin dog curry!

Runningblue · 22/10/2012 22:13

Urgghh horrid, poor ds.
Yanbu..

How about a laminated sign on a post

By all means, let your dog poo on your own garden
But, please, Children play on this grass, so control your dog.

Or some such missive

If they don't take the hint,

Plan b, pick up dog shit in scooper bag, stick on a 'I believe this belongs to you, I found it on my grass' sticker and deliver to their doorstep...

My folks neighbours used to put a cocktail stick flag with a message on it, on each poo as it appeared. The shitting stopped very soon after - but you might not want to get that close...

PumpkInDublic · 22/10/2012 22:14

Owner curry Sole, it's the only fair solution, we're NBU. I'll bring you a big pot. We'll make a night of it!

BeauNeidel · 22/10/2012 22:17

I am raging on your behalf. Nothing like dogshit (anywhere) to get me into a froth. I fucking hate it. So disgusting. I can't take the children out anywhere altogether without having to yell 'don't tread in it!' every few feet and often have to go to the carwash and get them to pressure wash my buggy wheels.

Restrainedrabbit · 22/10/2012 22:23

As a dog owner I'm outraged on your behalf!

Think I'd go for a letter drop in your road explaining what happened and mentioning your sons visual impairment. Hopefully the culprit will have a conscious and think twice in the future...grrr for you.

SoleSource · 22/10/2012 22:37

I was fuming. It really is the most disgusting substance. I still cannot shake the feeling these neighbours do stuff to me. My car was damaged agsin recently whilst on the driveway. Now shit on my front lawn again. Two massive dollops.

I would put up an electric fence. Disgusting.

SoleSource · 22/10/2012 22:45

If I do place a camra at the front of my house, is that legal?

OP posts:
Runningblue · 22/10/2012 22:47

I think someone suggested up post that your council might help with a camera..

Runningblue · 22/10/2012 22:48

Catmint did!

SoleSource · 22/10/2012 22:52

Yeah, I read. But is it still legal if ot is my own camera? B'ham council may not provide a camera.

I appreciate all of your replies. Thank you ;)

Ugh.

That is dreadful. I feel for your son. I have a real hatred of dog shit, it seems to be quite popular around our way to not bother picking it up.

I think iwould be inclined to do as suggested upthread. do a flyer drop in to all the neighbours' houses - then at least you have done something, and the dog owner may have a pang of conscience.

I would also contact the council .

Catmint · 22/10/2012 22:57

don't know if legal to use own camera...take advice from the dog wardens

midseasonsale · 22/10/2012 22:58

I'd be tempted to go on dog watch

Valpollicella · 22/10/2012 22:58

Bastards. Your poor ds.

If no camera id employ a known youth to sit and watch from your window and then follow the culprits. So i could then deposit their shit right back to their doorstep.

Hope your ds is ok

GoSuckALemon · 22/10/2012 23:00

yep with a video camera and shout out are you going to pick that up? would you like a bag? disgusting

werewolvesdidit · 22/10/2012 23:00

Your poor son :( I would be LIVID. I have a near phobia of animal shit. The owners should be ashamed of themselves, the selfish bastards.

ecto · 22/10/2012 23:01

I have a phobia of dog poo and also an open front 'garden'. I don't allow my DCs on the grass, they have to stick to the path for this reason. We do have a back garden so they can play on grass.

Valpollicella · 22/10/2012 23:05

Known to you i mean. Someone youd trust. Then they could tell you what fucking sorry excuse for an animal owner leaves their crap in your garden.

Sorry. My rage got tge better of me and i wasnt too clear

SoleSource · 22/10/2012 23:05

We walked about 6 steps from front door to get into car and he slipped. He nearly put the back of his head I.to it. He was carrying his new toy his TA had bought him for his birthday. Caked too.

YouOldSlag · 22/10/2012 23:07

Ring the council, grass up all suspects so they can be visited and investigated or warned. When the council investigates and threatens £1000 fines, they will soon stop doing it. Dog shit is my absolute pet hate and makes me seethe.

Do as another poster said and complain to all and sundry that your son is VI and it was his birthday. The evil bastards need to be made to feel really, really bad.

Tuttutitlookslikerain · 22/10/2012 23:07

I'd be bloody livid too! And puking as I was trying to wash it off!Angry

It is legal to put a camera up. We had problems with kids. Our drive is out if site of our house(still on site just can't see it due to layout) and the police advised us to erect a camera. We hadn't thought it was legal until that point, but it seems it is!

SoleSource · 22/10/2012 23:11

Thank you. I was heaving and screaming.

I am going to have a camera. I will contact dog warden.
