Talking about hand washing and anti bac gels- can anyone suggest ones that are good for hands with excema?

You need something that doesn't contain SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate). This is an industrial cleaner/detergent/foaming agent which is used in many handwashes.

Search "sls free handwash" and quite a lot of products come up, generally from "green" eco or organic suppliers.

Sometimes you can even see the dirt washing off!

But those who think it's ok to just use antibac gel after opening the toilet door - do you not have any sense of responsibility towards those who are washing their hands and exiting? Couldn't you wash the shit germs off your hands for their sake, if not for your own?

Oh boy. I don't use gel because I'm lazy I use it because I would rather do that than touch ANYTHING. I lock the door with my foot if I can, I flush with my foot if I can, I pull the door open with my little finger. Once I'm out I gel. For the comment regarding my gel bottle being covered in germs. Your right which is why I put a few squirts on then put my bottle away and only then do I rub it in. I have had to be a little less worried since potty training as its impossible to put her on the seat without her touching it and I insist on her washing her hands which is so hard as you have to lift her to allow her to do it. Sometimes I even have to do all this while juggling my little on.

I remember the first time I read the words "faeco-oral transmission" in a Microbiology textbook at uni.... If I wasn't already unbelievably obsessive about washing my hands after going to the loo, I bloody am now!

Those who don't wash - do you realise that flushing the loo sends a fine spray of toilet water into the air, containing millions of tiny poo particles and bacteria? You might not have wiped your arse with your bare hands, but there will be traces of faecal matter on you after you've used a toilet, no matter how careful you are.

Food poisoning doesn't just magically happen when food isn't cooked properly or left out - it has to have the bacteria in it to start with, and where do you think a large proportion of them come from? ARSES, that's where. Where bacteria don't survive (in any great numbers anyway) is on cold metal surfaces - i.e. door handles. The amount of bacteria on your hands if you've washed throughly then touched a door handle, compared to not washing at all will be considerably lower.

Also, if you leave it until you get out of the bathroom to put gel on your hands, then surely you end up touching and contaminating other surfaces? You may unwittingly touch your face, your mouth, you will touch your handbag while getting the gel out...

Those "using gel" Bollocks do you! I have never ever in my 43 years seen anyone use gel when leaving a bathroom it's just an excuse to cover up the laziness you have to washing. Bloody disgusting whatever the "excuse". In fact the amount of people who don't gel when entering a hospital is also mind boggling but I suppose they have some kind of excuse up their sleeves.... Filthy lazy sods is what it is...

I think hand washing is more social requirement that is either conditioned into you or isn't.

I feel better using elbows and feet to touch as much as possible in toilets, less likely to touch my face with elbows.

I wash my hands, but the number of bathrooms I go into where the sink with the toothbrush on is near the toilet, and you go in and the top toilet lid is up, so when they flushed all the water sprayed up and all over their toothbrushes......

Even see when they go into public places with those lights that show body fluids? Once you've seen that you wouldn't worry about a handle on a door. You should see what bags pick up when you put them on the toilet floor, or even hanging on the door, the door gets covered too.

Wash, anti bac after, you're still covered in shit and piss. Some more than others.
