Not the right place - are my waters leaking?

Sorry for posting here I can't find chat anywhere Blush never posted before either

I'm 37w pregnant today with my 1st DC, just got up for one of my many mid night loo trips and by the time I've got to the toliet there was water running down the slides on my legs (not loads) my first thought was oh god I've wet myself but I checked and there's no way it was wee, my pants were quote wet too and this didn't smell of wee either, MW hasn't gave me any advice about iwhat to do if something like this does happen so thought I would ask the wise ladies of MN. Have I just wet myself or could it be my waters and if it is should I worry?

Thank you Smile and sorry for posting here

Let us know how you get on Nervous will have our fingers crossed for you hen xxx

Softlysoftly · 15/10/2012 21:49

Op what time is the appointment??

They really really should be checking you. It makes me so angry they don't Angry.

I didn't want to freak you our but like pps my sister was left 48hrs with broken waters and by the time she was seen it was too late DN had group b strep the most common cause of infections in newborns. He never came home.

Like I say I'm probably going to get flamed to fuck but if I were you just go in, tell them you are too freaked out to sleep and want to be checked now, play the nervous pregnant card. Trust me it's better to know and it's their job you won't get looked down on for being a nervous new mum!

BabylonPI · 15/10/2012 22:21

I did have a hind water leak at 34 weeks. I did get checked and scanned but as it was hind waters they were happy to leave me be.

I think the crucial thing is being checked - please ask for a scan or something more reassuring tomorrow.

aufaniae · 15/10/2012 22:22

I also don't want to freak you out but I agree with softlysoftly.

They should be checking you.

My waters did not gush when they broke, it was exactly as you describe, like I'd wet myself.

If there's a possibility the baby's in there with little amniotic fluid, that's really not good. You need to stand up for your baby and demand they check you.

The worst case scenario of being checked is feeling a bit silly. You have nothing to lose by demanding they check everything's OK.

Busyoldfool · 15/10/2012 22:40

Agree with others - insist they keep a check on you.

My waters broke with DD1 at 37 weeks. I woke up at two am and at first thought I'd wet myself. Went to the hospital in the morning and they checked me then and every day thereafter until they finally induced me six days later. The leaking was slow and maternity pads took care of it. They were worried about infection. I did not want to be induced so they let me go home as long as I checked in every day for temperature etc.

Good luck OP

I three don't want to freak you out, but you need to be checked, I would like to add that in 2 out of my 4 labours I was convinced my waters went, 1st one, they left me and I didn't progress ended up being induced and baby tested +tive for group b strep. 4th labour my waters went, but no big gush, just trickle trickle, they tried to induce me and failed twice! a lovely midwife decided to check me out when I was being threatened with the whole IV induction scenario, she found my waters had only partially gone, she broke the rest, hey presto, nice normal delivery :)

If you get to the point that they want to induce you ask them to check your waters have well and truly gone!!!

Good luck, the birth is my favourite bit of the whole pregnancy, no more waiting :)

Thank you ladies, my appointment is at 10. I will be pushing for them to check me too, I wasn't overly worried before as I was still feeling lots of movements but I don't want to do anything to risk my LO. Im hoping they will give me a scan anyway as its to check if she's still breech and back to back. I'm quite worried that if she is they will try and push and ECV on me which I don't want

Not sure if anyone is still reading this but thought I would give a little update. I want to thank all you ladies for your advice and stories to push me to get checked out! We did today and I'm booked in for a section this Friday, try did want sooner but couldn't fit me in. The fluid around the baby is quite low so they want her out sooner rather then later. I can honestly say we wouldn't have pushed to have a scan if it wasn't for the stories on here as I only leaked a little and had nothing since but it shows you can't be too careful so I am grateful that you took the time to post Smile
