My neighbour is an arse. A very selfish arse. I posted about him and his beastmobile on here a few months back. Here is the backstory if you fancy it

The condensed version is, we live on a street with mainly terraced/Victorian houses many with no parking. This neighbour has three cars with just him and his wife living there. He has two massive 4X4 jobbies which he parks on the road (he has a front garden turned into a drive btw) He bought the most recent 4X4 to replace his other one, which he has just left parked outside someone else's house without shifting it for almost two months. The tyres are flat, the tax is out of date and it's full of rubbish.

It makes my piss boil tbh. I am thinking about reporting the car as abandoned. I don't think that he has any intention of moving it and he is taking up two spaces with his now defunct twatmobile. Angry

AIBU if I report it as abandoned?

YANBU to report it. I've done that a number of times here. But then again I live in flats with limited parking and SORN vehicles are not legally meant to be kept on this land the Mgt Co say. It was very gratifying when they were towed off and the spaces were freed up.

Do it do it Wink

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 11/10/2012 21:56

Ah just skimmed the thread and seen you've reported it. Well done Grin

Is it still there? Has it gone yet??

DontmindifIdo · 12/10/2012 12:57

Still there or has it gone?

Fiendishlie · 12/10/2012 13:04

The car isn't abandoned, it belongs to your neighbour and if he is the registered keeper the Council will take no action. If he is no longer the keeper and it is on the road it may be deemed abandoned and removed.

You can report it to the DVLA as having no tax, but it might be SORNed. If its SORNed and on the public highway, the DVLA can remove it. Mostly it takes ages though because they ask the owner to move it onto private land first.

BupcakesAndHaunting · 12/10/2012 15:47

The council have emailed me back and said they are investigating the vehicle. It will be resolved one way or the other in 12 days allegedly.

WelshMaenad · 12/10/2012 15:48

12 DAYS? I demand instant towing gratification, goddamnit!

WelshMaenad · 12/10/2012 15:49

Bupcakes.

JUST SAYIN'

SugariceAndScary · 12/10/2012 15:50

12 days, surely they can get off their lardy arses and get down sooner to investigate.

What's to check, see that he hasn't filled out a SORN and tow it off.

imperialstateknickers · 12/10/2012 15:57

Placemark...

HomelessMummy · 12/10/2012 16:13

Just parking here to wait for updates.

ouryve · 12/10/2012 16:17

If it's on a public highway with an invalid tax disc, report it. There's a simple page on the DVLA website. I've done it a few times, most recently for the Boswells and their fleet of flatbed trucks and (probably uninsured) bangers down the road.

ouryve · 12/10/2012 16:20

Report an untaxed vehicle online:

confused247 · 12/10/2012 16:23

Report it on the DVLA website. I've done it before- the Council were rubbish and took ages to do anything. The DVLA turned up the next day and clamped it, then returned a week later and towed it away (I guess they get a grace period to pay the overdue tax and get the clamp taken off?). It's really easy - there's a form on the DVLA website.

ipswichwitch · 12/10/2012 16:46

Twatty neighbour was always parking his heap of shit van right outside my house. One day I came home and found it completely burnt out. When I found out he had no plans to remove the stinking, leaking burnt carcas I rang the council who got it towed the very next day. Was quite amused when the owner came knocking to ask if I saw what happened to his van as the insurance bloke had arrived to take some photos to process his claim!!!
Little miss innocent here denied all knowledge of course (may have inadvertently led him to believe evil old git up the road did it).

NervousAt20 · 12/10/2012 16:48

I would report it. I hate it when people park like nobs and take up the maximum space possible which constantly happens in my atreetAngry
