I am not happy to keep paying a fee to the BBC. How many more child abusers lifestyles are we paying for? They have covered this up for years and sanctioned the behaviours and we have been funding it!

economistextra · 10/10/2012 09:05

Yanbu.

SoupDragon · 10/10/2012 09:26

Are you happy to keep watching BBC programmes?

Leena49 · 10/10/2012 09:36

Right now. Honestly. No.
But like the paedophiles they harboured and for all I know may still be harbouring they have us trapped!

xkcdfangirl · 10/10/2012 20:14

My God! Yes Trapped! Trapped with NO CHOICE WHATSOEVER but to watch television made by PAEDOS!

What a silly silly thread.

edam · 10/10/2012 20:21

worldsgonecrazy is right, the newspapers that are using this horrible affair to have a pop at the Beeb are just as culpable. The Mail and the rest of them knew about the rumours and chose to ignore them (partly because Savile was very ready with the libel lawyers). Some of these papers are dishonest - they seize any opportunity to have a pop at the Beeb as commercial rivals, without bothering to explain the real agenda to readers.

edam · 10/10/2012 20:22

By the same logic, you should withhold your taxes because Savile was paid by the government of the day to front the seat belt campaign. Clunk click every trip.

Joiningdots · 19/10/2012 11:30

I have been reading into this and a lot of people have been avoiding their license by not entering into any contract with them. They don't sign any paperwork the enforcers bring to the door and they don't let the enforcers into their property. They do not have to legally let them in and without signing any paperwork they are legally unable to proceed. I read this on lawful rebellion and TPUC websites. Interesting.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 19/10/2012 13:15

YABU... should we withold taxes for the NHS for having employed Harold Shipman for so long?

The good news is we're are no longer funding JS and the peado club if you remember when he croaked the Beeb froze your fee happy days

redpanda13 · 23/10/2012 09:44

Am I cynical to think that Murdoch's papers are exploiting the Saville scandal for their own (Sky TV) ends?

Emmielu · 23/10/2012 09:53

Or you could just not watch BBC channels? When you pay tv license you dont JUST pay to watch BBC OP. If you really are bugged by this, get rid of your tv. Or, if you really dont care about paying a fine then possibly getting put in prison for a while, then carry on your merry way.

Absy · 23/10/2012 10:07

So in the style of all the people on the Starbucks thread, can I claim that I'm boycotting the BBC because I don't watch them and don't pay a license fee?

pmcblonde · 23/10/2012 10:17

The BBC is a totally different organisation with up to date safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.

As to saying that you'd not pay tax if it came out that the PM was a child molester - are you really saying that because of the actions of an individual we should collectively suspend funding for the NHS, Schools, Child Protection services etc etc etc? What a counter productive approach.

Dawndonna · 23/10/2012 10:28

I suggest you do some reading on Eric Gill, op.

funnynanny · 21/11/2012 15:08

I think a boycott of the BBC licence fee is something well worth doing because (a) it reflects our concern and condemnation of the appalling way that the BBC have handled the Jimmy Saville scandal and failed to take effective action for decades, (b) because it highlights concern about the large payout made to the Director General who chose to resign after his appalling handling of the Newsnight fiasco - (by the way I am an employment lawyer and he was not entitled to any compensation if he chose to resign so why should licence fee payers pay him a year's salary for resigning?) - and (c) because it draws attention to the fact that people on mumsnet think protecting children is a high priority about which we are unafraid to campaign and take action.

goralka · 21/11/2012 15:18

suggest you do some reading on Eric Gill OP
what do you mean by that dawndonna?
I have a problem with having no choice but to pay to an organisation that has held itself as some kind of moral arbiter of society. Less of an auntie, more of a pervy old uncle.

with this exqusite sculpture over the entrance?

fromparistoberlin · 21/11/2012 15:59

oh shuddup

complexnumber · 21/11/2012 16:24

OP, how long are you considering not paying your TV licence?

When will you be absolutely certain that the BBC has not hired a 'PEADO'.

You may well be be quite intelligent, but your OP suggests otherwise.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 21/11/2012 16:36

Jeeeesus. Yabu OP, and silly.

goralka · 21/11/2012 17:19

oh shuddup an intelligent and measured response fromparistoberlin...very good

Summerblaze · 21/11/2012 17:34

I fail to see how the BBC have trapped you into watching them. Worried missing Eastenders are you???

goralka · 21/11/2012 17:37

well I agree if you really do not want to pay, then throw the TV out, innit?
