GPs look after DD sometimes while I am at work. She goes to bed by about 6.45 at the beginning of a week so she doesn't get too tired. I came home early (for a change) and was locked out from 6.05 until 6.30 today as they took my keys and were not back. I then have 15 mins to get DD bathed, changed and into bed while they stay getting her (and me!) more wound up. AIBU to think that they should respect bedtime when part of her normal routine and when I am home early think I might like to spend some time with my DD? FWIW she stays up late when we are there weekends and we spent a couple of hours with them yesterday.

Come on boys! Be fair to the op. she's the first person EVER with a toddler who WORKS. [lowest form of wit]

Sounds like a little thing to get wound up about.

You might be enjoying a wine but I'd rather take my time and not get "wound up" over bedtime to be honest.

Mypopcornface · 08/10/2012 21:48

The bedtime routine is so strict so op can enjoy a glass of wine earlier...

She has a toddler who works? No wonder the poor girl has to go to bed at 6.45!

BitOutOfPractice · 08/10/2012 22:35

everybody yes. All that chimney climbing takes it out of her

This has to be a wind up as surely no-one is that uptight?

As i get it, your gps are doing you a favour over the childcare, you come home early without telling them and don't have a key to your own house. Toddler goes to bed 15 mins late and gps after a day of looking after your kid have the audacity to hang around and not slink off as soon as your home.

Jeez as a working mum i wish i had your problems!

Just get them a key. Then if they are out when you come back, you can rejoice and make yourself a cup of tea and have 20 minutes of pure peace and quiet.

I do feel your pain though, on a day PIL had DDs a couple of times I had managed to get back early from work, completely knackered, and really looked forward to having a few minutes to myself before the bedtime onslaught. But unfortunately they also of their own accord decided to bring back DDs to mine a bit early. One day they did this I locked myself in the loo and had a good cry, as I had so needed the time to myself.
