alienreflux · 05/10/2012 14:29

as a very new mn'er (so new wouldn't have a clue how to find my number!!??)i find most of the 'old guard' really friggin hilarious on here, and a lot of the same, really supportive in the more serious threads.

Sorry hate magnolia, but love vanilla?

tjah04 · 05/10/2012 14:31

LaQueen, I suppose it is if the assumption is that a PO has started the convo and whether the perception is that they want a serious convo back. Then it would appear that it has been hijacked by larkers who want to take the mickey.

Maytheodds, I think that was one interesting thing that came out of yesterdays thread and that was perceptions on bullying.

greenhill · 05/10/2012 14:32

You have my sympathy weasel I read that as menu straightening to start with

LadyBeagleEyes · 05/10/2012 14:35

I've never seen any so called larkers take the mickey on a serious thread, ever.
Please show examples tjah04.

Hullygully · 05/10/2012 14:36

that missing "out" really mattered Invisible...

Hullygully · 05/10/2012 14:36

We had an example. It was Tee

No wait

Why do we need labels? Why can't we all just get along? Think of the children!!!!!!!!!

The truth is MN goes in cycles. We are currently in the PO cycle. Next month it will be the PRIM cycle. And so on...

And it used to be all fields around here and I walked to school uphill, both ways, in 10 feet of snow with no shoes.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 05/10/2012 14:38

Right now im pissed off.

I actually do some work for once and come back to discover there's a whole group which I am clearly not part of despite being, in my opinion, flipping hilarious.
I don't get PMs from any of you cliquey bastards telling me where to "pile in" I'm not even on FB FFS.

I have no earthly idea what number I am, or even what the number represents or how I would find it but for arguments sake lets just say I am number 1.

As you were then. Just leave me out.

Jusfloatingby · 05/10/2012 14:39

What's a seriousl thread? What's a 'larking' thread? I'll never get the hang of this. [need a drink before I crack up].

tjah04 · 05/10/2012 14:39

No examples just that seems to be my impression of the perception from the thread yesterday.

Before yesterday I had never heard of PO's and Larkers Hmm

ScrambledSmegs · 05/10/2012 14:39

I tried that Tee. I was mostly ignored. Jus mocked me Shock it was a joke

And tee are you absolutely eleventy million percent sure you weren't feeling bullied?

I would have contacted you to see if you were ok.....sorry about that. But I concluded that you probably were.

Sorry again Grin

Tee2072 · 05/10/2012 14:41

No excuses, Tantrums. I joined the conversation while in the queue at Primark and during my haircut and whilst shopping at Tesco. Blew through my phone battery, I did, using 3G.

IamtheZombie · 05/10/2012 14:44

My name is Zombie. I am member number 273339. I have no idea where that puts me in the pecking order. I think I've been here for 3 years. Frankly, I cba to search my original nickname to find out the date I first posted. Like any on-line forum, it took a while to find my feet here. Originally I lurked a lot. I read dozens / hundreds of threads. I got a feel for the people and the "culture" of the site. My posting frequency increased. I am proud to be a member of this community.

Sometimes I "lark about". Sometimes I am serious. I have only had the pleasure of meeting one fellow Mumsnetter in RL (although I hope that will change in the future). I have several as FB friends. If there's any shoutting out being done there (which I strongly doubt), I'm not included in it. I am proud to be the founder member of the Dustbin?. We don't do shout outs in there either. We chat about our lives, our problems, our successes - as friends do. We support and encourage each other through the tough times and celebrate the good times. I'm also proud to have been adopted by the Norty Puddlehumpers. In the Puddle we chat about our lives, etc. We support each other, etc. Neither of those groups is a closed group. Anyone is welcome to come and join in.

I also chat with lots of other Mumsnetters on various threads. Sometimes I agree with them. Other times I don't. That doesn't hinder my enjoyment nor, I think, theirs. I know that my normal Zombie posting style annoys / irritates some people but that's life. I have my reasons for it (which I have explained elsewhere) and I'm keeping it.

I actually find it difficult to imagine a more supportive community than Mumsnet. That's why I don't like the bullying culture allegation.

tee next time anyone tilts their head at you I'll be straight round with a bowl of soup to make sure you are ok.

But could you move to north London in the next 5 minutes otherwise it might get a bit expensive.

Tee2072 · 05/10/2012 14:46

Thanks and...no. I like Belfast!! Grin

Pagwatch · 05/10/2012 14:46

If anyone ever head tilts at me I will fucking deck them.
It will just save time in the long run.
