To think this absolutely slovenly and disgusting

I was in the playground today, and a girl of about three said to her mother 'Mummy I need to got to the toilet'.

The toilets were 100 yards away at the cafe, clean and maintained.

Her mother said 'Would you like to go in a nappy instead?'

So without moving from her seat, she put a nappy on this girl.

She then said 'I've got a nappy on'

Another (younger) little girl in the park said 'I've got knickers on.'

The mother stayed sitting where she was until her younger daughter (about one) started crying because she wasn't being supervised and got hit while standing at the bottom of the slide.

I think she muttered something about having a hangover.

Am I the only person who read the OP and thought it was the mother wearing a nappy? I'm too tired for this. I need to go to bed.

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/09/2012 22:31

usual you are going to get yo ass banned. Mostly for being ham using. I have never heard of s4 of The Park Act. OP YANBU, but YABU for being judgey on the hangover thing

whatinthewhatnow · 30/09/2012 22:33

she was hungover and tired and she still made it to the park with a 3 year old and a 1 year old? She's mum of the year.

Flojo1979 · 30/09/2012 22:33

YABU, she might have recently been potty trained and only 'goes' in a nappy, if not home on her own potty etc I know a few toddlers that started like that.
Her mum probably knew she's fuss n fret and as it was a park, with mums n kids, why would she be embarrassed? She probably thought ppl would understand.
As for kid being hit at bottom of slide, yes that isn't great, but as parents I think we've all been tired and taken our eye off the ball at some point, most of us r just a bit luckier and our kids didn't get hurt.

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/09/2012 22:38

usual tis my speak for amusing. Tis a yolk, a play on words, ewe know

MammaTJisWearingGold · 30/09/2012 22:38

She would have had to drag the younger one to the loo with them wouldn't she? I don't blame her for thinking that was a lot of aggro.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 30/09/2012 22:39

Jeez, OP, I'll bet a day out with you is like a walk in the park.

She needs to get a she wee.

bellabreeze · 30/09/2012 22:43

Wow thats weird if you ask me.. sounds really lazy and it seems so wrong to just give a 3 year old the option of using a nappy instead of going to the toilet.. very strange.

Inneedofbrandy · 30/09/2012 22:44

The pre sterilised ones you could just chuck away. I'm sure they saved my sanity of constant washing bottles. Didn't have a dishwasher, not enough room.

WorraLiberty · 30/09/2012 22:45

There could have been a whole multitude of reasons including the little girl being scared of big toilets.

I don't think you can conclude anything from such a tiny snippet of someone's life.

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/09/2012 22:48

OP was the woman rough looking?

PaygeTurner · 30/09/2012 22:53

Normal for Slough, I think you could say.

Why is this ANY of your business?
Why?

Startailoforangeandgold · 30/09/2012 22:54

My DDs are 11 and 14. The rule back then was no nappies at pre school.

Both started as young as was allowed 2 and 9 months, both were out of nappies, Just. DD1 very, very, very just.

We'd been in America and I hadn't dared not have her in trainer pants in a hired car seat.

Yes, had preschool taken them in nappies I might have been more relaxed, but it did mean she was dry when DD2 came along just after she was 3.

DD2 BF continuously, toilet training would have been hell.
