to think I am not a total twat

FunnysInLaJardin · 29/09/2012 22:38

It would seem that lots of posters think I am and so lots of my posts have been reported. Resulting in a MN 'warning' about my posting style. I am quiet Shock about this because on the whole my posting style is very anodyne really. I am sure no one 'knows' who I am much less that I am an inflammatory poster. I am really quite upset about the whole thing. Is it now really off to call someone smug or to say they are talking out of their hat? If so maybe it's time for a mn break

Seriously though OP, are you a twat?

Suchabadperson · 29/09/2012 23:44

I've been here a bit, know your name and the posts have all been deleted by the time I get there have never thought you were a twat.

steppemum · 29/09/2012 23:45

funnys IMHO called someone smug or saying that they are talking through their hat on an internat thread is probably going to wind people up.

I don't recognise your name and I am rarely offended anyway, but one thing I have learned over the years (getting walking stick out) is that when you write it, it will come across much stronger than when you say it. Talking with friends over dinner you might say 'you are just talking through your hat......' But if you post it on here, the person you said it to is going to be annoyed, unless it is one of the fun chat threads.
people take their opinions seriously and if they are talking bollocks you have to let them down gently. Humour doesn't come over in a post.

Wrap you comments in a bit more tact. Keep posting, have glass of wine.

steppemum · 29/09/2012 23:46

I will learn to type one day....

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 29/09/2012 23:51

Im a twat, most people here must think Im a twat. I have maybe had one or two posts deleted in as many years. I dont recognise your name OP. are you sure you have not had a run in with another poster and this hasd become personal.

My understanding is that MN will delete posts for maybe weak reasons, if they appear to be inflamitory or using bad language, but I would have thought a warning is hard pressed.

can you be more specific to generatde a fairer opinion of how you have been treated?

LordLucansLostLubricant · 29/09/2012 23:58

I would like to learn how to talk through my hat. It sounds cool.

Funnys, I recognise your name but I've not had you down as a twat!

SuperB0F · 30/09/2012 00:01

You don't seem twatty to me Confused

WorraLiberty · 30/09/2012 00:30

Perhaps you should change your NN to TheTwatInTheHat and avoid being reported? Grin

omfgkillmenow · 30/09/2012 00:38

I have been on threads and seen that your posts have been deleted for breaking mumsnet rules, but then as I missed them I cannot answer...but i always want to see the deleted ones!!!

AgentZigzag · 30/09/2012 00:40

In the deleted posts I'm sure you were just saying what we were all thinking but too afraid to post Grin

Leena49 · 30/09/2012 05:23

I find it annoying that people post on here then take offence when some people are straight talking. That's what's really good about viewpoints on here is that they are honest.

catgirl1976 · 30/09/2012 05:43

You've not set my twatdar off

And it is highly attuned :)

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/09/2012 10:25

thanks folks. Bups I will come and join you on the bench of shame. I do think it is mostly a matter of there being a fair proportion of the terminally offended on MN now which never used to be the case, plus more folk than ever who will report you to the 'teacher' if you upset them, rather than deal ith it on the thread. I have never ever reported anyone because to me that seems like rather childish behaviour.

I have been quoted 4 different threads which have by all accounts been reported. The first and the one which no doubt kicked the whole thing off was a comment on thebeesknees79 thread where she was trying to start a scrap about BF/FF. I called her a twat and was deleted for my pains. That is fair enough. The others have been calling someone smug, saying I was most likely a goaded on the goaded/bully thread and raising an eyebrow about the identity OP on the most recent Cherry Menlove thread.

I am trying to find out if they were all actually reported and who by.

Anyway I shan't spend much more time on this and will put it down to experience, but it will certainly make me far more guarded and to me that's not what MN is all about.

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/09/2012 10:27

oh and Agent yes, I s'ppose I am a bit of a twat Grin

BupcakesAndCunting · 30/09/2012 10:33

Don't worry bab.

I got deleted last week for a very lame reason. I didn't like the cut of someone's jib and I told them. Then she wrote a very patronising post back so I told her to go and boil her head.

Meh.

It is only a matter of time before we get twinkling glittery wanksplat tickers.

Why do you need to know who reported you?

PickledFanjoCat · 30/09/2012 10:40

So she can track them down and boil their heads of course!

SuePurblybilt · 30/09/2012 15:00

Oh, then I was prolly deleted on the CM thread for saying much the same thing. I wouldn't think that was a reason for a warning Grin

YY, The Po are winning. It's a shame.

thebeesnees79 · 30/09/2012 15:07

fwiw I was NOT trying to start a breast vs bottle debate and I am so sick of fucking repeating myself over and over and over....

cumfy · 30/09/2012 15:07

we've been graduay taken over by the Po

The poor, the post office, police ombudsman....?Grin

SuePurblybilt · 30/09/2012 15:09

The Po-faced whingers, cumfy. Often also the Stepford-bots and the Lollers. There's a certain amount of overlap, I've found.
