Great news Smile

This week must have been hell on earth for her mum and dad.

SoleSource · 28/09/2012 18:36

Q the TV and mag interviews etc, Megan will get.

Aramis · 28/09/2012 19:15

well, found unharmed, as I had expected. Surprised they stayed in France, but they may well not have realised the extent of the police and media efforts to find them. Apparently they used some specialist team to find them, so they stood zero chance www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19763821 .

I hope that they, first thing, publicly apologise to all the people affected, especially their families, because they had treated them in a shocking way.

Aramis · 28/09/2012 20:21

PS: there's already a name for what I talked about before

JakeBullet · 28/09/2012 22:08

It looks as though he had been trying to find work and they were evidently hand in hand. Seems they did not intend returning home.

Now Megan has been found, the Daily Mail has moved onto photos of the man's wife.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2210269/The-wife-betrayed-Months-fairytale-wedding-husband-hand-hand-Megan-besotted-pupil-14.html

(Who has tried to disappear herself, from the internet, to avoid this kind of attention. Reality is you can't really hide your past, once it goes on the internet it's uneraseable.)

shesariver · 29/09/2012 09:41

skippy its appalling isnt it, I feel so sorry for this poor woman - which after all was the point of the original thread. Partners running off with someone else is hardly a rare occurrence but at least in most cases people can come to terms with the betrayal in private - not so here, where it has been played out in the glare of the media for the whole country, and made worse of course by the circumstances.

I hope they do not become mini celebrities. They have both behaved disgracefully. Immature, selfish, irresponsible, idiotic and thoughtless and a few more besides.

Aramis · 29/09/2012 10:41

I take your point that she needed to be found, but today she is still top news on the BBC and top news on yahoo, not to mention all the papers. Even though she has been found and is safe.

I do not really think that this is in her needs. And the whole carry-on was never about her needs from the point of view of the media either.

Aramis · 29/09/2012 10:42

feel terrible about the wife too - cannot believe that daily mail article

LadyBeagleEyes · 29/09/2012 11:16

His poor, poor wife.Sad.
What a total shit this man is.
I hope when Megan matures a bit she'll see him for what he is.
How utterly selfish he is, to destroy two people's lives like this.
Pathetic little creep.

Mrsjay · 29/09/2012 11:44

His poor, poor wife.

It is his wife and parents I feel for the must be so hurt and mortifyed by what he has done and they have done nothing wrong,

SoleSource · 29/09/2012 11:49

I feel sorry for all involved

hackmum · 29/09/2012 11:51

I have to admit I've been following this case with more interest and curiosity than is probably appropriate. What strikes me the most is how utterly utterly stupid the teacher is: he may go to prison, he will have a criminal record, he will be on the sex offenders' register and he will never teach again. What did he imagine was going to happen? That he and Megan could somehow make a new life in France and nobody would try and find them? How likely was that ever going to be?

Second prize for stupidity surely goes to the school's senior management team who were apparently told months ago that this teacher was holding hands with the girl on a school trip. In any normal school, surely, that should have led to instant suspension. Yet he was allowed to carry on teaching. Extraordinary - particularly given the school already had a less than shining record in this regard. And then the headteacher puts out a statement saying that the school has excellent safeguarding policies and that their safeguarding has been rated as outstanding by Ofsted! Does he take people for fools?

edam · 29/09/2012 13:32

hack, if you look up the school's Ofsted online, it says very little about safeguarding, and certainly doesn't rate it as outstanding. The school gets outstanding - despite a supply teacher being convicted of grooming pupils in 2009. Hmm And Ofsted say parents and pupils say they feel safe. But that's just perception, not reality.

shesariver · 30/09/2012 12:22

Just read this morning that Jeremy Forrest was using a fake identity to try and get jobs, so it doesn't really sound as spur of the moment as originally thought, if its been planned like this.

SkippyYourFriendEverTrue · 30/09/2012 12:32

He is apparently intending to be extradited so that he can shack up with Megan ASAP in the UK (presumably this would be when she turns 16). Obviously if he is not imprisoned first.

dysfunctionalme · 30/09/2012 12:46

Megan has been treated disgracefully by the teacher.

I really hope she gets good care when she's home, she's going to need a lot of help to adjust to what she has been through nevermind the fact the whole world has been alerted to it. Double trauma.

None of this is any good for her. God let there be someone in her RL who protects her, really protects her now.

SirBoobAlot · 30/09/2012 12:55

The whole situation is sad. I was with a guy in his late twenties when I was 15, so don't necessarily agree with the "groomed" comments. Inappropriate, yes.

I hope she's okay. She fell in love with the wrong guy, and this will haunt her forever :(

LadyBeagleEyes · 30/09/2012 12:55

We all agree about what a creep he is, but I wonder if Megan ever thought for one minute about his wife.
Or did the whole 'romance' of it just leave her totally oblivious to the pain they were causing.
I wonder what his excuses to her were, that he could leave a year long marriage so easily and persuade her to join him in such a ridiculous escapade that was doomed from the start.
His poor wife and poor Megan.

dysfunctionalme · 30/09/2012 13:01

I think it's easy to forget how painful it is to be 15. And to understand how powerful a much older man can be, especially a teacher. No doubt he spun her all sorts of cringey drivel and she, being a child, believed it. I doubt very much that he hammered the fact he was a predator who lies, cheats, and plots.

Aramis · 30/09/2012 16:10

I suspect that if had been smart, he would have at least persuaded her to wait till it was legal.

SatansLittleHelper · 30/09/2012 16:32

Still reckon he went bonkers, c'mon, no sane thinking person would believe they could just bugger off to France and that'd be it. Everybugger knows English pubs abroad have the news etc on constantly.

France is huge, if he'd have had any sense he'd have stocked up on pot noodles and a ton of camping stuff.

SirBoobAlot · 30/09/2012 16:37

"Smart" would have been not holding hands on a plane with her coming home from a school trip.

This whole news story makes me think of Pretty Little Liars... < bad taste, wonderfully shit TV >
