I was struck off as a blood donor today as I have become allergic to the skin cleansing solution, after giving blood for 23 years. So I felt I should try to recruit a replacement.

Anyone willing to give blood instead of me? (subject of course to health reasons/previous transfusions/dodgy lifestyles etc)

Thanks!

I used to do it too years ago but was told not to as I was always light headed afterwards.

Is there an upper age limit?

IShallCallYouSquishy · 26/09/2012 18:38

I'm not allowed back until DD 6 months old and then only if my anaemia is better!

Such a worthwhile thing to do and feel guilty that I can't at the moment!

I am not allowed, Gave blood last year and fainted was out for about 5 mins aparently and needed o2 to bring me round. The dr called me a couple of days later and told me not to go back.Sad

I will start once I finish having children. TTC dc2 shortly and that will be our last.

I do worry a bit because I get lightheaded when I haven't eaten regularly enough, so I think it might affect me a bit, but I shall go once at least and see how I feel afterwards.

I have tried twice before - once I pitched up on the wrong day and once they refused because I was part of a medical trial.

They wont take mine as am on steroids for asthma, but great idea to get a replacement, my DP now does it for me.
