...does that even go? He seemed happy enough with it this morning but now imagining the horror that he may reveal as lunchtime approaches.......

It will be fine tis brain food innit Wink

amck5700 · 25/09/2012 12:26

lol kim - he hasn't had octopus yet. He doesn't like prawns which is a shame as it's one of the few seafood/fish foods that I like. His younger brother only likes plain fish in batter or breadcrumbs and my OH likes most fish but not really salmon or trout.

Think it'll be fine - but don't tell my dd as swordfish is her most favourite food!

A kid came into my tutor room last week to dump his bag and he was looking very dubiously at his curry sandwiches. It could be worse!

amck5700 · 25/09/2012 12:37

lol - the secret is safe with me :) Boy 1s favourite at the moment has to be mackerel rissoto :) It makes up for the year that he wrote in his news book every Monday that he had been to McDonalds at the weekend!!

he hadn't by the way - but he got a star for writing on the Monday after he had actually been "We went to McDonalds at the weekend, I had a burger, it was nice, I felt happy" so he regurgetated the story out every week for months!! Teacher must have thought we were a very healthy family!!

I've eaten shark - think it was quite meaty rather than fishy - not had it again tho.

Ooh curry sandwiches - I would eat those!

My Oh will generally eat anything left over on his sandwiches (e.g. macaroni cheese, potatoes and cabbage, stovies) so I guess what is bothering me is the fact that he left the swordfish when he made his sandwiches up !!! Maybe he just forgot about it Hmm

Cor, swordfish mayo sounds absolutely lush. My DCs are far too boring for anything more adventurous than ham or cheese.

idococktailshedoesbeer · 25/09/2012 12:47

Sounds delish and yes ever so posh. Grin

And squid is delicious and really healthy too, no bleurgh about it!

amck5700 · 25/09/2012 12:50

thank you Cointreau - I'll report back later on the verdict - if it helps any, No2 son i would say is the less fussy of my two and he only does cheese (must be orange) or sliced chicked or tuna mayo on his sandwiches - well actually he'd like jam but that's not happening

MadBusLady · 25/09/2012 12:54

Should be fine - you took the sword out, right?

DilysPrice · 25/09/2012 13:00

Fine for boys, and sounds delicious, but the PP whose DD loved it should limit her consumption to an occasional treat as it's not really recommended to anyone who might want to have babies in the future (heavy metal toxins).

amck5700 · 25/09/2012 13:04

lol madbus!

Dilys - ooh i didn't know that - so that's not good for girls then? You really don't know what to give your kids for the best then - i guess it comes back to all things in moderation!

Nothing wrong with jam sandwiches.. even better with banana on too.

Ephiny · 25/09/2012 13:08

This shows up in Most Active as 'to have given my 12 year old a sword' :)

It sounds gross to me, but then fish and mayo are my two main food phobias. I'm sure it'll be fine.

amck5700 · 25/09/2012 13:09

No2 son doesn't do bananas - No1 likes them with jam, peanut butter and honey all together - weird child

Sounds daft but i sort of see jam sandwiches as more of a pudding than a main course so he could have jam as long as I had lots of savoury stuff to put in his box......but if I had the savoury stuff then I would probably put that on his sandwich and give him a biscuit or something for pudding :)

My kids would love that

QuintessentialShadows · 25/09/2012 13:10

DS's reputation for posh sandwiches will from now on haunt him until he is a grown up. My friends from primary still talk about my lunches. We are talking home made wholegrain bread, open sandwiches with: margarine, lettuce, ham, sliced cucumber and sliced tomato, with a dash of coleslaw on top.

This is right up there with swordfish lemon mayo sandwich!

minipie · 25/09/2012 13:11

Sounds good to me. Esp on brown bread.

amck5700 · 25/09/2012 13:16

Thanks all - I'll post the verdict when he is home. given his communication skills it will either have been "disgusting" or "okay" - that's about as enthusiastic as it gets!

I think it sounds delicious (am fan of both fish and mayo).

Dawndonna · 25/09/2012 13:24

All I can think of now is I want barbecued swordfish. I love barbecued swordfish. It is pouring with rain, it's freezing cold. It will be a long time until I can have barbecued swordfish again.
