To ask you how old you were when your wisdom tooth/teeth came out and did it make you wiser?

Just that really. I'm 29 and after suffering from numerous gum ulcers and uncomfortable pinched gums on the top left side for the past year or so, I have found that my top left wisdom tooth is cutting through my gum. It feels weird and raw. I can't stop touching it with my tongue.

I'd like to think I am finally a wise person. Happy to give free advice to anyone about anything .

One of mine was coming through when I was 18, I know because I didn't go to the dentist for years so I can date it to that time. But they are still not all fully through now and I'm 27! The dentist thinks they will stay that way.

I know someone whose didn't fully come through until she was well into her 30s.

This is interesting. I thought if they didn't come through by your twenties they didn't come through at all! I'm in my early 30s and have no wisdom teeth, but also no gum where they can come through. My gum just stops after the tooth before. Maybe they will never come? Maybe I will never be truly wise?

I'm 41 and I live in hope.

Oh no I am 32 and have a very painful one at the moment. Waiting for dentist appt to see if it's impacted .....

Mine started at 38 one is impacted but no trouble or real pain, god knows why there called wisdom teeth though

I've no idea. I had to ask my dentist last year,when I was 27,if they were in as I genuinely didn't know.He confirmed they were,and that they were in the right place. I was lucky as I didn't feel them coming in at all. I was completely unaware of it.

Unfortunately I'm just as dumb as ever.

I'm 32 and have 1 totally though and 1 on it's way which is being a little tricky

No wiser but in a hell of a lot of pain. mine was over erupted and cutting into my face so came out 2 weeks ago at dentist after I had put it off as long as I could.
Still a bit gapey and sore where it was taken out but no more daily headaches!!

I had 2 wisdom teeth taken out by the dentist when i was in my mids 20s. I still have the other 2 and have had no trouble with these in 20+ years.

Like you i have a little flap of gum near my wisdom tooth and my dentist did offer to lop it off but i've gotten so used to playiing with it with my tongue that i declined

I'm 31 and they're still to come through?

I was 14 when my first one began to come through. Each one took years and years and years to fully break through though.

They werent all 100% through until last year, age 29.

And yes, I am wiser than I was at 14

Oh good, I thought I was late getting them. Obviously not! I don't see the point of them though. I don't chew my food that far back.

Farley that's interesting you mention headaches. I was getting really bad migraines on my left side which would leave me sick and dizzy. Since the tooth has started cutting through, they've disappeared.

My mate woke up one day in agony with her back teeth. The dentist lifted that "little flap of skin" and turned out loads of food/crap had gathered in there and caused a tasty little infection. Stunk the room out, by all accounts.

Mine have been growing for the last 4 years and are still going. I'm 25.

One of them is growing sideways apparently.

I'm still missing one and the rest are still half out only.

Oh no, I was hoping they'd come through sooner :( I'm 24 and mine go for a few days, really painful, and then stop for a few months, then repeat :(

Did anybody else have a little pocket of gum over the tooth at all/ I have on and food ends up going through the front of it and getting stuck in this pocket, I have to clean it out on a daily basis I mentioned this to somebody once and they thought I was very weird!

My first two came through when I was pregnant with DC1 when I was 24. Both had to be removed as they were impacted.

Am now 26 and pregnant with DC2 and the third bastard wisdom tooth has just started coming through.

Mine all started coming through quite close together at age 18 but one only came partway through and stayed that way until recently aged 28.

I will very (very) shortly be 44 years old (as in next month). I still have all my wisdom teeth and in fact the top two have half grown and the bottom two still haven't come through at all!.

My upper ones came through in when I was about 19 and were taken out. One lower one partially erupted in my mid-20s, and is still just sitting there partially erupted. My final one came through at Christmas last year, when I was 30. Again only partially through.

It is worth getting an electric toothbrush to help with cleaning them properly as the smaller heads on them help. I did get an infection in the skin around one of them once, and it was The Most Painful Thing I have ever experienced.

Mine are still coming and going at age 30.
I'm extra wise as I have 5 wisdom teeth!!!

confusedpixie I don't have a pocket of gum this time, but when my molars were coming through when I was younger I remember having a flappy gum that I could bend back with my tongue. I don't think you're weird!

I'm a bit scared now that it will only partially come out...

Had all four out under a local at the dentist when I was about 24ish , definitely before I had children. Hugely painful once a month before he took them out.

It wasn't painful having them out but a little unnerving as he pulled and tugged.

My first one started coming through - or started hurting on my 18th birthday. All four were through by the time I was 22.
