AIBU to think that little girls swim suits and pants shouldn't be high cut

It seems impossible to find a pretty swimsuit that is straight cut on the leg nowadays. AIBU to think a high cut legs for pants (gap) and swimsuits (M&S amonst others) are totally inappropriate and ill fitting for little girls.

I think I am buying a size too big as the bottom half is gaping. The cut is still very narrow though.

I handwash leotards so I make dds wear knickers under them. Ds wears shorts anyway so pants aren't an issue except he obviously wouldn't wear boxer under a leotard, only the oddly named 'slips'.

I don't see why you wouldnt wear knickers under a leotard!

For gym DD1 has a leotard & matching footless tights. For dance the leotard has a little skirt attached.

That's a bit shouty MarysBeard.

None of the girls wear them. They just don't. They have a knicker trick. They pull on their leotards and the pull the knickers off one leg at a time and pull through the leotard gusset. So stretchy knickers are important Grin

Do we think Beth Tweddle wears knickers?

when I was younger, and doing a lot of ballet (and had friends who were doing equal amounts of gymnastics), the received wisdom of the time was that those who were serious about the sport and wanted a future in it didn't wear knickers under leotards, and those who fussed about wearing knickers weren't so serious about it.

it seemed to hold true within my circle (reasonably large) - those of us who continued to higher levels/professional were the non-wearers.

as to swimwear - dds wear sunsuit shorts/t shirt types, or school swim costumes. no wedgies and no gaping (although must remember to buy dd2 a new school swimming costume - her old one must be cutting her in half)

It wasn't meant to be shouty. I'd just never thought about it before, just seems quite odd.

S'alright MarysBeard Grin

Yy silver. There is deinately a 'we are competition gymnasts. No namby pamby knicker wearing for us'

Eh? Seriously? That Peppa Pig costume looks absolutely fine to me. Why are you so concerned?
