"I'm not a feminist"

"oh, I'm so much less of a feminist than you are"

"I'm so not a femynyst I don't even know how to spell it"

"It would have been even better if she'd then flicked his manana"

doesn't 'manana' mean 'tomorrow'?

Hullygully · 21/09/2012 17:52

ohhhhhhhhhhhh no it doesn't have the wiggly bit on the top

EdgarAllanPond · 21/09/2012 17:53

is the wiggly bit an imposition of the Patriarchy?

Moominsarescary · 21/09/2012 17:53

Why is that pag ? when have I ever said that professional women should be refered to as girls? I haven't so I can't see the irony myself

seeker as you seem to think the word girls infantalizes grown women I'd say its the perfect word to describe some people on this thread

gordyslovesheep · 21/09/2012 17:55

I'm still laughing at the Bette Davis picture back on page whateveritwas - I shall now forever have that image in my mind when someone over the age of 10 refers to themselves as a young girl - DD is seven and SHE doesn't like being called a young girl. She is a big girl. So Ner.

And getting slightly more serious for a minute, does it occur for one moment to those women/girls/menz-in-drag-for-purposes-of-stirring that the reason Women's Aid and DV charities are largely women-only is that the women using their services have generally been beaten and raped by men and allowing men into these places would be quite upsetting and offputting to them?

That's not belittling the plight of male DV victims, it's having some simple consideration towards female DV victims.

Is that not obvious, or is it me? Confused

Snurk @ manana :o

FLEETINGLY PEACEFUL

Moomin
You said

"I am surprised you don't get called girl more often if this is the way you act."

Then you did a little Hmm face so I knew you really meant it.

Now that could have meant

A) 'your posts are vibrant and filled with mature wit so people should call you girl more often'

Or

B) you are so childish and pathetic that people should call you girl. Because girls = childish and pathetic

I am guessing B.

So. You used girl as an insult to express contempt or childish behaviour.

Hths

Okay so I read up to page 10 then skipped to 24-25 and I have not seen much on competitive Anti-feminism (either it's existance or excuses for it) so is this a mystery that will go on puzzling people?

Hullygully · 21/09/2012 18:04

oh we've long since lost interest in that

Hullygully · 21/09/2012 18:04

The best bit was page 13
