to think that there is NEVER an acceptable reason to call a 32 year old woman a "young girl?"

No I'm not.

I couldn't care less what emotive flannel is flung about.

IT. IS.NOT.ACCEPTABLE.

The end.

aldiwhore..I actually DIDN'T take offence at the comment really.

Wink

I take offence to people slating Hully and seeker as if they don't care about what happened when they are talking about something separate, it's like people are competing with each other to come across as more upset and concerned

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/09/2012 20:54

it's like an infectious outbreak of acting like hysterical loons

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/09/2012 20:54

now i will be flamed..but I will point out again, I think it's incredibly sad that these two women/girls/whatever were killed.

As much as those who get all irate about it

FamiliesShareGerms · 20/09/2012 20:55

I am outraged by the tragic event.

I was pissed off by the "young girls" comment.

Those positions are not mutually exclusive

aldiwhore · 20/09/2012 20:55

No it's not. It's one issue. If you separate a cake into it ingredients you get fucking horrible offensive eggs, bloody flour, horrid sugar... together they make a nice cake. A fine thing. A forgiveable thing. In isolation they hurt my stomach and are wrong.

StrawberryMojito · 20/09/2012 20:56

Is that the best you can do scurry? Like I said, I'm there, doing it day to day and have been for a long time now. I don't know what constant battles you're on about.

FamiliesShareGerms · 20/09/2012 20:56

Oh, Hully YANBU

Blistory · 20/09/2012 20:58

Aldi, but we're not talking about the cake, we're discussing the offensive eggs

aldiwhore · 20/09/2012 20:58

Okay Fanjo this board's humour sometimes makes me weary. I never know when someone is being genuinely hysterical, a bit cross, eloquant, or a cunt.

Why oh why are there only two side to a fence?

I really do not find the term 'young girl' offensive in this context, and context IS the key for me. (Was called a lamb at work once... baa... flicked him in the cock as he went up a ladder, he never did it again) I DO get 'the cause' I do not agree in this instance, and because I don't agree it annoys me.

scurryfunge · 20/09/2012 20:59

Well, Strawberry, I guess you will have to disagree. None so blind, etc.....

Jemma47 · 20/09/2012 20:59

i dont think so ...i just think that Hully is an attention seeking Charlie Uniform November Tango.....

Headline hi-jacking we call it.....

aldiwhore · 20/09/2012 21:00

But those offensive eggs weren't offensive in the context of the situation or the circumstance, by any means.

Unless you have an allergy, in which case, you're allowed to be a bit miffed, but it wasn't YOUR cake. (No more cake talk)

Smile
JamieandTheMagicTorch · 20/09/2012 21:01

I agree with aldi

For now

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/09/2012 21:01

aldi, i dont find it that offensive either

Blistory · 20/09/2012 21:01

The bloody flour then ?

Sallyingforth · 20/09/2012 21:02

Hello Hully! Nice thread you young girls have got going here.

Bilbobagginstummy · 20/09/2012 21:02

I'm so flipping slow on the uptake. I thought someone had called Hully a young girl.

Me too!! If you're talking about someone else please can you say so in your OP? How are people supposed to know what you're on about otherwise?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/09/2012 21:03

i did find people calling seeker "abusive" offensive though tbh

Hullygully · 20/09/2012 21:05

HullygullyThu 20-Sep-12 18:20:43

It's not that I'm really annoyed, although I am a bit, it's everyone saying it's all right that annoys me.

It's not all right. The context is irrelevant. It just isn't all right.

That does not take away in ANY WAY fromt eh terrible sadness of what happened to those two police officers.

Changing the subject..and not being arsed to open a new thread...my DH's nose hair is becoming a bit unruly...how do i drop the hint ? I mean I cant say ...sort yer bugle out mate can I ? he'll get upset - we'll argue and he'll suggest we have a make up shag....you just cant f~~king win can you......

atacareercrossroads · 20/09/2012 21:06

Yabu, I'm a young girl and I'm 32

I'd say if the person who is being called a young girl is ok with it, or say a grieving family or colleagues are using it as a way of describing someone are ok with it, then there is no issue. at all. None.

Hullygully · 20/09/2012 21:06

Separate issues.

If we cannopt separate emotion and reason we remain at the level of the instinctive.

Not a good place to be.

JamieandTheMagicTorch · 20/09/2012 21:07

Yes, that's true, but then you were rude hully.

Ok tragedy aside. Male police officers DO get described as boys/lads whatever, just as female officers are referred to as women/ girls whatever. No, I don't care. In fact, I enjoy the fact that my work place and colleagues can be informal.
