WIBU to mark them up in red and ask the teacher to see me after school?

I actually agree that a teacher's time shouldn't be taken up with proofreading.

But! That doesn't mean that documents shouldn't be proofread.
What I mean is that someone other than the author of the document should proofread the document (you never seem to see your own mistakes)

That's what support staff is for - the school secretary, or the administrator, or someone of a similar position should proofread read all documents before they are published.

That's part of the their job - our school secretary did the proofreading.

Anyone know if things have improved in recent years in school regarding all of this.
If not.......

dyslexics need jobs, too.

nickelcognito · 15/09/2012 16:57

The issue is not about dyslexia.

a person with dyslexia would be more likely to ask for someone to proofread their documents before having them published.

We got the first communication from DS (Y1)'s teacher yesterday, all about the reading assessments and how to "do" reading with them this year. Each child had an individual bit of text typed and pasted into their home/school diary. I was very impressed until I saw a "there" instead of a "their" Shock
