and call him a **ing idiot?

He also posted them 1st class recorded and lost me money on the P&P Angry.

He says he was just trying to help - but really - a call to check if I'd been paid wouldn't have been amiss surely - he knows how the system works.

I am just so angry - imagine if the buyers hadn't paid - sod all chance of them doing so once their nice new items turned up 1st class post tomorrow.

WAD - YANBU.

PunkInDublic · 13/09/2012 20:48

I appreciate your response WAD.

DP and I are very big on the forgiving and moving on, I've messed up to where we had no money for a week, he's been stuck in another city at 1am after getting on the wrong train and his phone had died and I was so scared he'd been run over or something, and I'm a big believer in letting it go.

That said, if you wouldn't be afforded the same courtesy I think it's unfair to you that he's expecting it. Some people need to have it all out every now and then to let it out, some people just let it drift by, different folks and all that. But it's a two way street. I can understand more now why you're angry than I could from your first couple of posts.

TheWonderfulFanny · 13/09/2012 20:50

So why does he have access to your account?. Change the password ffs

WAD · 13/09/2012 20:52

Er - wonderfulfanny - you've misunderstood.

He doesn't have access to my account. He just saw a pile of parcels and posted them.

He had no idea if they had been paid for!!!

OP posts:
WAD · 13/09/2012 20:52

Maybe I should give him access - then he might engage brain enough to check whether the buyers had actually paid!

PunkInDublic · 13/09/2012 20:53

I think you've missed a bit Fanny. The items were packaged and addressed ready for WAD to send once she had confirmed payment. DP thought he was being helpful by popping down to the post office with them but he didn't check that WAD had received payment potentially losing WAD money if the buyer wasn't honest.

HTH

LapsedPacifist · 13/09/2012 20:53

Aaargh! I feel your pain! Have been eBaying like crazy all summer and had my fingers burned a few times on (mostly overseas) postal charges....

But - just put this down to experience. Honestly, your DH wasn't to know the score, and at least he was trying to help you.

I made the mistake of sending the batch before last by 1st class mail without realising charges have increased a great deal over the last 3 years. Have also been too lazy to weigh items before listing/posting. Blush

WAD · 13/09/2012 20:53

Thanks Punk Wink

X-POst WAD

Katiekitty · 13/09/2012 20:54

Also, First Class recorded can add at least £2.50 onto the postage price from basic 'signed for' at £3.65 for a small packet.

Madness on his part.

MrsCampbellBlack · 13/09/2012 20:55

YANBU

But part of me would have been grateful he'd saved me the trip to the post office.

diddl · 13/09/2012 20:56

I´d be annoyed also.

And why couldn´t he just apologise for interfering with your system

Why does the fact that he was trying to help (especially if you didn´t want help anyway) make it all OK?

Ah bless, he´s a man trying to be helpful-we must be grateful at all costHmm

WAD · 13/09/2012 20:56

Katie - yep, tell me about it! Although tbh, the P&P part I was less annoyed about - though that lost me about £20. It was just sheer panic on the reat which would have been lost. I told the wally - check - JUST CHECK!

OP posts:
WAD · 13/09/2012 20:58

He's not the apologising sort, sadly.

I will just hide them - or not wrap until I know I've been paid in future. But it's a nuisance, as wrapping is a chore and I like to do it when I have the time to do it IYKWIM.

OP posts:
diddl · 13/09/2012 21:03

It wouldn´t take much to have asked if they needed posting, would it?

Really, if you don´t need/want help-then it´s not really helpful, is it?

getmeoutofthismadhouse · 13/09/2012 21:16

This is definitely something my oh would do lol, we had a conversation last time I sold on ebay that I need to post and then the buyer pays , hmmm good job I use my brain . It is frustrating when someone else doesn't think before they do something . It could have been a costly mistake , glad it weren't !!

I have had something arrive before I have paid for it and I have straight away paid for it , I know some people wouldn't be honest though which is a shame considering that money could be the difference between a family eating that night or not :(

NorbertDentressangle · 13/09/2012 21:21

YANBU -I would have been annoyed too as it would have taken no time at all for him to phone and check first.

Just out of nosiness interest how much were the items worth?

JeezyOrangePips · 13/09/2012 21:24

I may be wrong here, but I thought that, in order to have PayPal protection, you had to post to the address that PayPal give you.

I never address a parcel until I have confirmation of the address from PayPal. It doesn't happen often, but I have sold items to people that have different addresses registered at PayPal to eBay. Both times the PayPal address has obviously been a work address.

You might want to be careful of that.

WAD · 13/09/2012 21:24

Norbert and Diddl - exactly, a quick phone call was needed.

About £180.

OP posts:
JaneFonda · 13/09/2012 21:31

YABU.

An over reaction, considering how all of the parcels had been paid for.

It would be understandable if they weren't paid for, but they were. He did you a favour (and who really cares about a couple of quid lost on postage?), and you call him a fucking idiot?

I feel very sorry for your DH, who obviously thought he was doing a nice favour for his ungrateful wife.

WAD · 13/09/2012 21:36

Gosh Jane - I feel awful now you've put it like that Sad

OP posts:
WAD · 13/09/2012 21:38

However, I still think he was BU not to check if they had been paid for - a quick call wouldn't have done any harm.

As I said before, he knows how the system works.

OP posts:
TheWonderfulFanny · 13/09/2012 21:38

Ah right, yes, missed that bit. How about doing the packaging when you can be arsed but only putting on a label for the address when its sold? Obviously you'll need to code the parcels somehow...

WAD · 13/09/2012 21:38

Jeezy - thank you for mentioning that - good point.

OP posts:
WAD · 13/09/2012 21:39

Fanny - yes that could work. Some kind of description would be crucial though - I can imagine the chaos otherwise!
