I don't like them. I have tried.

I keep trying thinking that they may have pulled their finger out and made nice soups, however I am always disappointed.

Latest travesty - beetroot and horseradish soup, which had a maximum of 1/1000th of a gram of horseradish, no seasoning and an overwhelmingly sweet beetroot taste. Crap.

And before that a mexican type soup - NO bloody chilli in it whatsoever.

The tomato and basil - no bloody basil.

Chicken - I think that chicken had a miserable life as it tasted of fuck all.

Why can't they make nice soups? The Tesco finest soups are nice. Those other ones in a tub whose names escape me (they also do a skinny range) are lovely.

Soup is ,watery baby food.

lamby79 · 13/09/2012 21:56

I was just thinking exactly the same and almost posted similar. Have they always been this bad? Yuk Yuk yuk

MmeGuillotine · 13/09/2012 22:13

In a moment of insanity, I tried the courgette and camembert soup last week. WTAF was I thinking?!

Fridge I had a bloody mary soup from tesco finest at the weekend. It was delicious.

I am glad that I am not the only person who thinks it is crap. It is a load of overblown 90s nonsense, like that eau d'issey perfume, Bjork and global hypercolour t shirts.

YABU I love the chicken mulligatawny and they did a limited edition Mexican one last year (though I added a shit tin of melted cheese) and have always been partial to the mushroom one

Innocent veg pots are food of the devil - they actually taste rancid

almapudden · 14/09/2012 11:47

I like the Thai green chicken one, actually. Agree that the Glorious soups are nicer though I ignore the serving suggestion and have a whole pot to myself

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 14/09/2012 18:25

Oh god yes you have got to eat a whole pot of soup. What kind of people share it?

I don't like Innocent smoothies either. Bloody horrible and stupid idea.

Ate one of those Innocent veg pots once, gave me the worst indigestion of my life! I was awake until 3am Sad

I should just stick to homemade food.

IloveJudgeJudy · 15/09/2012 11:52

There is a make of soups called something like New York Soups sold in the same place in Tesco as Covent Garden and Tesco own. They are lovely, or it might be Tesco Finest soups such as Sri Lankan chicken and Thai something soup. Agree about Covent Garden. It's emperor's new clothes, isn't it?

Mumsyblouse · 15/09/2012 11:57

I agree about most of the flavours, that pear one (special offer tempted me) was absolutely vile. The only exception, IMO, is bacon and lentil. The rest are horrible.

FauxFox · 15/09/2012 11:59

The gazpacho is the only one that is nice. The pea and ham made me want to vomit. YANBU OP.

Mumsyblouse · 15/09/2012 12:01

I also agree with whoever said the quality has gone down. I tried the carrot and coriander one recently, which I used to like, there were lumps of carrot and no taste of coriander. It wasn't a high quality soup by any means.

katykuns · 15/09/2012 12:04

They are far too expensive for such uninspiring bland soup...

Do I need a proper blender to make soup? Does anyone use one of those cheap hand blenders with success?

olga57 · 11/02/2014 14:05

Just tried Covent Gdn broccoli and stilton - this flavour is usually one of my favourites, but alas, too watery. tesco is better.

cupcake78 · 11/02/2014 14:08

Yanbu. They always disappoint me. I try to make my own. Glorious soups are so much better IMO.

Aliama · 11/02/2014 14:10

I went through a stage of being utterly, utterly addicted to Glorious Tuscan chicken and orzo. In fact starting to get a craving right now. Best. Soup. Ever.

Nanny0gg · 11/02/2014 14:12

Roast chicken is nice as I can't be bothered to make that one.

HoneyDragon · 11/02/2014 14:23

They are rubbish.

I complained once when I purchased some meatball concoction. I asked where the meatballs were.

A roundabout conversation happened where the woman on the phone said the meatballs should be there but were not necessary for me to enjoy the soup.

I gave up then she sounded like she was going to cry because I refused to eat the soup for her. I suspect if she had not been on the phone, and we were face to face she have had to spoon in hand and cheerily going "here comes the choo choo, into the tunnel".

Or possibly just "EAT THE FUCKING SOUP YOU BITCH. I'M FROM COVENT FUCKING GARDEN AND WE GIVE A CUNT ABOUT OUR FUCKING SOUP", given her erratic manner on the phone.

If I buy meatball soup I want meatballs in it. Not to be told that the meatballs are lovely but unnecessary and to just eat the soup up without them Confused

Queen0fFeckingEverything · 11/02/2014 14:27

They definitely used to be nicer than they are now.

They are wattery and narsty and I've stopped buying them. Even the DC (who delight in tasteless food) don't seem keen.

londonrach · 11/02/2014 14:31

Agree. Mind you they always on offer at 99p or £1 in Waitrose. They used to taste a lot better!

notso · 11/02/2014 14:39

Takingbackmonday · 11/02/2014 15:03

M&S soups are great. Covent Garden awful.

Bigbadgladioli · 11/02/2014 16:25

Chicken and bacon - amorphous vaguely foul-tasting gloop with pink and white bits in it. Really really nasty. Had it this weekend....And it's not cheap!!
