Was the book even out nine months ago?

happyhopefulmummy · 07/09/2012 08:37

I saw ones once that said "all daddy wanted was a blow
Job" and "all mummy wanted was a massage". horrific.

I also saw one of my facebookfriends had put her twins in babygros. One said "I was planned" the other said "I was a mistake"

StealthPolarBear · 07/09/2012 08:41

PMSL at "Nobody could ever have a problem with promoting pornography on babies surely? "
The "been inside" one is on the right side of acceptable IMO but who wants to dress their baby as a little stand up comdian?

StealthPolarBear · 07/09/2012 08:43

the "planned" and "mistake" twins thing is really horrible.

MrsHoarder · 07/09/2012 08:49

And I fretted about wearing "my mummy is yummy" (gift) when ds was a newborn! Do these people not think??

Iheartpasties · 07/09/2012 08:54

On ebay you can get toddler sized t shirts that have an image of an amunition belt on them. I find that horrid.

BasilPrimula · 07/09/2012 08:55

Awful, horrible. Am I the only one to find slogan of the "I love my mummy" variety pretty dreadful too.

Mother in law bought my DD one that says "I love daddy, cupcakes and cuddles". When I've been a bit lax with the laundry she wears it on occasion - always gets lots of "isn't it cute" feedback, but I think it's naff... bleurgh!

OH FFS some of you really haven't got enough to worry about. It might not be to your taste but that doesn't mean the people who do think these things are funny are bad parents and evil people.

DS has had various 'slogan' t-shirts over the years, mostly given as gifts or bought second hand; he was a pukey baby and a messy toddler (he's still one of those kids that's just a dirt magnet) so we got through a lot of clothes in a day and I soon got over being precious about what he wore as long as it was clean and fitted him.

NiniLegsInTheAir · 07/09/2012 09:12

I admit I secretly want to buy DD the t-shirt that says 'The one the Daily Mail warned you about', just to piss off my evil Mail reading inlaws. Blush

kweggie · 07/09/2012 09:13

ew

kweggie · 07/09/2012 09:14

ew to the 50 shades t shirt that is

Lambzig · 07/09/2012 09:19

Just yuck to all of these. I too hate the "I love mummy" type things. DD was given one and I couldnt bear her to wear it. Its not just that its naff, its also that its kind of up to her if she loves mummy or not (god that sounds a bit mad doesnt it?).

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 07/09/2012 09:19

Surely there's nothing wrong with 'daddy's little princess'? Many dads, and mums for that matter, refer to their daughters as 'princess', there's hardly a disturbing connotation behind it... Unless for some reason you read the word 'princess' and assume it's the negative meaning of 'spoilt little princess/pampered little prince' etc?

TwelveLeggedWalk · 07/09/2012 09:34

As a twin mum I have to say the planned/mistake babygrows did make me laugh! Mostly because you get so many people assuming you had IVF so it's one way of fending off that conversation. Wouldn't be brave enough to dress them in it in public though...

I despise the whole 'Daddy's little princess' stuff, we were given a whole set of hand-me-down stuff with that, 'Pretty like Mummy' and, completely inexplicably, 'Bunny's Little garden' on it. There wasn't a rabbit motif, nothing, it just MAKES NO SENSE. Lazy design, gah.

TroublesomeEx · 07/09/2012 09:44

There are so many things wrong with describing your daughter as 'Princess' I can't even begin!

Connotations of being spoilt - the idea that they don't do anything for themselves and daddy is a mug.
Aspirations of being rather than doing - girls 'are', boys 'do' gender stereotyping

And the fact that anyone who was a princess wouldn't be seen dead wearing anything with the word 'Princess' on it.

And so on.

It's just awful. So awful!

GinFilth · 07/09/2012 09:46

We were given a pack of body suits with slogans like '100% cute' on them. One said 'part of the family'. Well, err, yes.

Enfyshedd · 07/09/2012 09:48

I got DD a babygro which says "I see BIG people" - DP & I think it's funny.

The local craft fair which does the rounds a few times a year has a company called Preschool Punk who do loads of punk & ska related clothing for babies & toddlers - I can't wait until November when they'll be around again so I can get DD a "Rude Girl" babygro or t-shirt. We like our music and DD has been having a good introduction to BBC Radio 6.

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 07/09/2012 09:52

So DS shouldn't be wearing his 'I'm the reason we can't have nice things' t-shirt?

I STILL don't see the problem with girls wearing 'daddy's/mummy's little princess' stuff. But maybe I'll feel differently if I ever have a DD [shrug]

Peevish · 07/09/2012 09:55

Folkgirl, I'm in London, and I think I've seen almost all of the ones other posters describe at one time or another. I agree with you on the 'Daddy's Little Princess' thing, but then for some people I am some kind of mad, uptight femiNazi, because I don't dress my five-month-old baby boy in anything that has cars, tractors, or slogans that say HERE COMES TROUBLE or LITTLE MONSTER. Which means we have quite a few unworn presents in the bottom drawer.

bigsista00 · 07/09/2012 09:57

When my sister and i were younger, we had matching t-shirts that said "thing 1" and "thing 2", from Cat in the Hat...

Ive seen various father/son 'combo' tshirts that say things like "master/apprentice" in star wars font, and "pint/half-pint"

:/

NameChangeGalore · 07/09/2012 09:59

Wow. I actually shuddered looking at those. I know the type who'd make their babies wear those too. Sad.

TroublesomeEx · 07/09/2012 09:59

For me, PomBears , it's more about wanting people to see DD as more than just a pretty little thing sitting there. And making inferences about her I'd rather they didn't make.

My daughter is sugar and spice and all things nice. But she's also slugs and snails and puppy dogs tails and I don't want a word written on a t shirt to influence the response she elicits from other people.

That's all! Grin

RuleBritannia · 07/09/2012 10:00

I expect the designer has been on the Jeremy Kyle Show so thought everyone is alike.

Chopstheduck · 07/09/2012 10:01
