To think that FB local sales pages could get aggressive?

I saw an advert for something for £40 this morning and was negotiating a deal with the seller. We agreed on a price and I went and picked it up. All pretty obvious for all to see!

When I got home I saw a message from someone else saying

"I'll gi ye 40£ 4 ths. Dnt take ne less from this cheeky bitch lol. Can pick up now. Sum ppl just want to rip others off xxxx"

AIBU to think this is a little over aggressive?

And I'll add another one if I may...

AIBU to wish to fuck people would STOP using such ridiculous text talk?

Got it, thanks Samuel

There are some weird and wonderful things on there Shock

crackcrackcrak · 06/09/2012 21:41

I don't knock it - I bought a gorgeous pushchair from ours which was listed as used but looked like she might have pushed it around the living room once or twice.
However some of the spelling and grammar is quite amusing and more if they type in text speak Grin

Adviceinscotland · 06/09/2012 21:46

Mine is full off "used toy, bits missing £1 can deliver" posts

Why on earth would you deliver something you were getting £1 for Hmm

hazeldog · 06/09/2012 21:46

someone asked for a quote to move a large item and i gave them one for dh to do it as he has several work trucks. the qute factored in his diesel there and home plus his time at a standard rate and the person got really shitty with me saying i was tking the piss as its only £10 diesel. yeah, from your door to the delivery address it might be but i expecting a stranger to do a job for you at a loss is just wierd

CleoSmackYa · 06/09/2012 21:49

They can be horrific! I tried selling a telly once and people went nuts. Turned into a full fight and I was getting inboxes from randoms demanding I pick them. One girl even got her family members to send me individual messages to say she was most deserving, and when I hadn't replied within the hour, I got abusive messages about how I better 'watch my back'. No fucker got the telly!

Meglet · 06/09/2012 21:54

Me and a colleague were having a bitch about our local FB selling page at work the other day. The sheer fucking cheek of some people is breathtaking.

I have stepped away from them as I was going to lose it with someone on there.

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 06/09/2012 21:57

I love the used DVD listings
Undersiege £3.50
Bodyguard £3.50
etc
collection only! PMSL

I got a slating once because I asked if I could collect in the a.m as we were getting on the road to go on holiday, then a load of memebers who knew the seller pounced on me because the seller had just had a baby and how dare I DEMAND she get up in the morning! Grin
(I only asked! it wasn't a big deal!)

hatesponge · 06/09/2012 22:02

My local group isn't v well subscribed so no major bunfights as not that much demand!

I am however a member of another group for a much wider area which I stay in mainly due to the (unintentional) hilarity of many of the posts. They all 'hun' and 'babe' each other all over the shop, all the sellers 'need gone asap' and every post is signed off with at least 2 xx's Grin. There are regular 'I saw it first' disputes, slating buyers who don't turn up, and complaints when stuff stops working a few days after purchase...it's far more entertaining than the TV!

crackcrackcrak · 06/09/2012 22:02

It's the shoes we laugh at - completely Knackered, filthy trainers -£1......why????

crackcrackcrak · 06/09/2012 22:03

Yep yep and the total strangers calling me 'Hun'

Eh?

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 06/09/2012 22:05

oh I also love the: I collected item, had ample opportunity to check condition, paid up, left, NEXT DAY decide it's filthy and un-usable, now I'm gonna slate teh seller not kick myself for not checking on collection, or checking and being unhappy but paying anyway

hazeldog · 06/09/2012 22:13

well ive just put my car on there cos this thread reminded me to do it...god help me Grin

fluffywhitekittens · 06/09/2012 22:17

Well I've sold loads of stuff on them, no seller fees, no non paying disputes and I've got a few bargains and met a couple of really nice people doing this. However you do get to know which sellers and buyers to avoid. And which sites are better to use.

MNhoneydragonHQ · 06/09/2012 22:51

I love my local site, it's lovely. Fosters a lovely sense of community. The only time we've had problems is when snide fuckers request to join for shits and giggles. Taking the piss of people for buying used items.

Always backfires though - they get banned, and people remember who they were.

toddlerama · 06/09/2012 23:00

Mine is disappointingly reasonable. I was expecting rabid bags-ing of tat but people just negotiate and take it to private inbox messages. Inconsiderate! Grin

Groovee · 07/09/2012 11:43

LOL my Friend has made comments about their local buy/sell page. Saturday nights can be entertaining.

MrsKeithRichards · 07/09/2012 14:46

Ours is good. The only major drama was the Easter bunny episode which even made the local press.

Some enterprising soul had bought an Easter bunny suit and a ton of eggs. They were charging a fiver to visit your child. Loads of people replied and booked him.

Come easter Sunday the page was full of messages asking where the bunny was. he only made it something like 1/4 of the houses he said he would. He just said yes to everyone end didn't plan properly, there were heart broken bairns up and down the county!

GolfOscarLimaDelta · 07/09/2012 14:59

I've sold loads on mine. Been really handy for getting rid of stuff as I'm moving.

Ours can get a bit heated sometimes. The board admin gets really irate if people post too many photos or stuff that's banned.

You do get some cheeky buggers offering a quarter of your asking price though. I always put collection only but the amount of people commenting 'oh:( I live too far away hun soz xxx' really winds me up!

diddiehunter · 07/09/2012 15:10

Hahaha! Saw a brilliant one today! " black lever jakit, size 10/11"

Grin
WoodlandHills · 07/09/2012 15:32

LilQueenie · 08/09/2012 00:51

ok are you ready? our local area has lots of sites because everyone thinks they can do a better job of running it. One site in particular likes to delete members for no good reason then bitch about them. Two admins of 2 different sites had the police out over an argument. There has also been a lot of arguments plus we also had one try to sell healthy start vouchers. She was reported for it so dont know what happened there. Then we had one or two sites to name and shame bad seller/buyers and another one to name and shame evil admins I kid you not! TBH a lot of them are self righteous and up their own Ar**s. There a few fair ones too. And one huge argument about someone wanting to sell 'bling dummies' for babies. She said they were for ornamental use but used on her own child and it was ok because they were not banned in our area of the country although they were banned elsewhere so they are safe! I seriously think I live in nutsville.

NCForNow · 08/09/2012 00:59

Crack !!Grin

I think it's bloody sad how they sell any old thing...sometimes for a pound an item.

It makes me a bit Sad

My sister bless her, tagged me on one item today...and it wasn't at all what I would choose...it was a nightmare of a thing actually and I deleted it out of shame that my other friends would see!

NCForNow · 08/09/2012 01:01

Lacking the DVDs yes! And the books! I saw a boxed set of Winnie the Pooh books that would cost £1.50 in the charity shop...up for a tenner!

LilQueenie · 08/09/2012 01:04

and then there are on the ones on the free sites (like freecycle) who sell what they get on the selling sites. Hate those ones. Get a job.
