It's comfy.

I don't geddit. Why does it matter what I wear on my feet, for a start? I don't think I look any sillier in my socks 'n' sandals than I do in my giant ugg-a-like thingies. Or any more foolish than girls falling off stratospheric heels they can't walk in.

Is it because it's scruffy? Or because it's reminiscent of middle aged chaps on holidays?

EXPLAIN PLEASE.

It's the greyish saggy ribbed sock and tan Jesus-creeper sandal combo that's the worst, especially when accompanied by white sparrow legs, unflattering shorts, a wifebeater vest, dandruff and halitosis.

Socks and crocs are just about passable. Just.

CrunchyFrog · 05/09/2012 14:21

But it's days like today when it's inbetweeny, joyful

It's too warm for shoes. Too cool for just sandals. But the combo allows air circulation whist still providing insulation.

Although I should probably admit to doing this from September to May, as long as it isn't raining. Grin

OP - rofl @ at not understanding why socks and sandals are a bad thing! Grin Grin

KnowingMeKnowingYouAHA · 05/09/2012 14:22

It just does

A bit like wearing trousers that are too short and show a couple of inches of leg, then socks, then shoes.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 05/09/2012 14:22

Nooooo! Please tell me you're taking the piss???!!

I hope they don't have toe posts! Grin

lurkedtoolong · 05/09/2012 14:25

It looks horrid. We were on holiday with ILs earlier in the year and both wore three-quarter length trousers, socks and sandals. They looked daft but at the same time neither of them every complained of being uncomfortable so perhaps that's the benefit...

CrunchyFrog · 05/09/2012 14:25

No, tow post, bog standard birkies.

I'm taking the piss a bit as I have been teased recently for my lack of Being A Girl-ness. I'm wearing girls socks with them though. Stripey. DSis is refusing to be seen with me Grin

Describe the sandals op!!!

And the socks..... What are you wearing with them?

BlackberryIce · 05/09/2012 14:27

Anywhere else and my last post would sound pervy!! Grin

NCForNow · 05/09/2012 14:28

I think when you get to a certain age you can wear anything you want. So OP...if you are over "A Certain Age" then YANBU. If you don't know what "A Certain Age" is then you're not it...and YABU.

CrunchyFrog · 05/09/2012 14:28

Blue birkies, two straps, blue Stripey socks, boyfriend jeans (oh, ok man jeans) and a hoodie. I'm well gorgeous innit. Grin

If you can't see the problem with your own eyes, I'm not sure anyone can help you!

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 05/09/2012 14:35

Grin Blackberryice!

BlackberryIce · 05/09/2012 14:37

You can probably swing it op, thank god you aren't wearing a skirt/dress/leggings!!

headinhands · 05/09/2012 14:43

But why? Socks are to keep your feet warm, sandals to let the air circulate. It's like the Craig David combo of thin vest and wooly hat.

ThePigOnTheWall · 05/09/2012 14:44

If they're comfy, that's great but I would cross the street to avoid you

TheBigJessie · 05/09/2012 14:54

It's a stupid social rule. It is meaningless. Ignore it.

CrunchyFrog · 05/09/2012 15:16

Oh, I do. Grin

Birkies and funky socks- fine by me!

But then again i favour funky hand knit socks...

NotAnAxeMurderer · 05/09/2012 15:19

I don't judge anyone by their sartorial standards.

But it's a little known fact that the fall of the Roman Empire coincided with the trend of ancient Romans wearing a primitive style sock with their sandals.
