Am I unreasonable to hate the words

Congealed

Treacherous (think that's the right spelling)! I know the meaning of this word isn't nice so can kind of see why I don't like it, but I cringe when I hear it!

Which words do you hate?

I hate the words:

zit (can hardly type it)

snot

"see you later" when later is after the next sleep or an indefinite later
chunder

"Stock, Aitken and Waterman"... still now, some 20 plus years later

and most words with an "ar" sound as you either sound posh or like a farmer saying them, there is no in between IMHO!

bubalou · 05/09/2012 16:25

smeg
flange
gusset
panties
clammy

Grin
cheesymashedpotatoes · 05/09/2012 17:15

lot of words here related to slang for vaginas and ladeez parts in general....
but me too for:

moist
moist creases
wordsmith
brainstorm

and the phrases:

keep your eyes peeled
let me put my thinking hat on

cheesymashedpotatoes · 05/09/2012 17:17

Trouser (instead of trousers)
Pant (ditto)
Shoe (there are two of them)

This seasons pant makes me feel enraged.

My sister in law rang me up when singulars became common in fashion magazines - just to warn me that an onslaught of words were coming that I would hate.

conseuelabananahammock · 05/09/2012 17:28

pramface
turd
gob

and the phrases

Can I 'pick' your brains? and
Slip my clothes on eurgh just eurgh

conseuelabananahammock · 05/09/2012 17:29

Oh and also hate

brat
shag
humping

Niceupthedance · 05/09/2012 17:30

Most of the above, plus

Sleeps - as in only three sleeps until
Sexy - just horrible

And also, everlong, my mum INSISTS I call her mummy, in public and everything. I am 38 and I bloody hate it. She is in my phone as MOTHER Angry

ticklemyboobsofsteel · 05/09/2012 17:39

The word globule :(

I do, however, love the words gondola and plinth!

HarrietVane · 05/09/2012 17:47

Munch

Makes me shudder. Except when used as a mild expletive as in "oh munch" Grin

McHappyPants2012 · 05/09/2012 17:47

this thread has made facebook :)

mine is fandabbydozzy

ReshapeWhileDamp · 05/09/2012 18:29

Words that contain a 'u' without any other vowels to keep it company. Unadulterated 'u's make me twitch. Strangely, this doesn't really apply to words that begin with a 'U', like Umbrella or Unlikely. But undulate, cunt, punt, twunt - even Dungeness. Confused

Oh, and I also hate 'Dooberry'. Bonus Stabby Points for Dooberry Wotsit. Hmm

lilachair · 05/09/2012 18:30

Puce.

I'm not even sure what colour it is but I don't want anything PUCE.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 05/09/2012 18:38

Parenting-forum-specific:

bubs
bean or beanie to denote small foetus
youngster
the phrase 'Little Man'
cum (well, it's sort of parenting-specific)
hubs or hubby
LO
hun (AND it has a lonely 'u'!)
make love
vadge
titties
bubs as in breasts
marshmEllow

ReshapeWhileDamp · 05/09/2012 18:39

yy am with you on 'puce'. (lonely 'u', see?) And nothing good could ever be 'puce'. Makes me think of pus.

anditwasallyellow · 05/09/2012 18:44

Another one I hate is cordial.

DuffyMoon · 05/09/2012 18:48

boobs

Namechangegalore · 05/09/2012 18:49

I hate the words:

Piss

Putrid

Fallopian

Bargain

(Not a word, but this name makes me cringe) Ingrid. Reminds me of an ingrown toenail.

spanky2 · 05/09/2012 19:12

I,m not keen on belly, and never use it, but I don,t really hate any words except the F word being used or other crude words. Words are for communication and what is offensive is the tone of voice and facial expression of nasty aggressive people., I hate. I remember my mother using a few curse words - drat, darn it, sugar, but nothing more crude than that. Been trying to think of a word I cringe at but can't think of any

CleoSmackYa · 05/09/2012 19:23

LOL. Anybody that over-uses it is a wanker.
