To ask how the hell I weigh less than I did before getting pregnant with my first child...

I had my second DC early this year, and even though I apparently am lighter than pre pregnancy, I still can't get into my size 10 trousers/jeans, or my size 12 tops/cardigans. I'm size 12-14 for trousers and size 14-16 for tops now.

So please tell me how the bloody hell I weigh 48kg, when I weighed 55kg BEFORE EVER getting pregnant?!

I can't see where I've lost weight. Since having DC2, I have fat rolls on the back of my waist, my upper arms have become so chubby that the arms of some clothes get stuck. I have the inevitable mother jelly belly. My breasts are MASSIVE thanks to breastfeeding. So how the hell am I 48kg?

I never weigh myself normally, because I feel health isn't defined by weight, but DH weighed himself at Boots so I thought I'd do it too, and now I'm wishing I hadn't. Weighing yourself is a serious headfuck.

I get smaller with each pg and my feet got smaller this time too. Odd innit?

Both my Mum and I lost weight effectively whilst pregnant - she was so skinny she only just made a minimum weight to be discharged after giving birth, the doctors were worried about her - she gone down from an already light usual weight of around 7 stones to barely 6.
Mine was much less dramatic as I'm taller and heavier to start with, but I was back in my pre-pregnancy clothes within 2 weeks of giving birth which surprised me. I'd agree with onelittleclara I was lighter but then progressively gained it back after DD was about 4 months. I'm pretty chubby again now!

Ok! I went and weighed myself on one of those healthy electric scales in a bigger boots. Drum roll!!!................I weigh 68.5kg Grin. Pheweeeey, yep I'm overweight! It measured my height as 4ft 8.3" which was a bit strange, and that gives me a BMI of 33.5.

I knew I wasn't that light! Now I have something to do about my weight and will hopefully feel better when I DO look thinner and AM lighter!

That's only 10.5 stone so pretty healthy for 5ft4 so don't be too hard on yourself. I'd be very happy at that weight Grin

I got back to my pre-pregnancy weight after I had twins and STILL none of my clothes fit properly. I think I just changed shape but couldn't really put my finger on how or where exactly, I just felt uncomfortable in everything.

I've put on nearly 2 stone since then, but that's another story... Blush

Your BMI is 25.91 according to this

I made you 29 (age)

Trills · 04/09/2012 20:01

If the height bit said you were 4ft8 then I wouldn't trust those scales either!

That does sound like a much more realistic number though.

breadandbutterfly · 04/09/2012 20:07

I lost weight after babies down to less than I ever weighed before. But in my case, I also went down from a size 10-12 to a 6-8 - so it was visible.

So I'd agree with others that your scales are probably broken if you genuinely do look fatter. Unless it's not fat, just saggy skin from where you 'stretched', that will recede as muscles tighten up again?

Paralympia · 04/09/2012 20:11

I agree, I don't think you can be 48 kilos. I think I'm about 55, about the same height and I don't have rolls of fat on my back or huge breasts. I'm size 10/12

Paralympia · 04/09/2012 20:12

ps, i never weigh myself, i just know I haven't put on. I go by wasit measurement now. If my waist goes over 29" i panic.

ImABIGgirl · 04/09/2012 21:16

Thanks narked; how did you guess my age correctly?! Spooky.

When I got pg with my 4th child I was at my heaviest ever (62kg) and being 5 ft tall it really showed on me. I had been eating shite - takeaways, drinking lots of wine and generally not a healthy diet. As soon as I discovered that I was pg my diet changed and when my DS was born I weighed 49kg - he weighed 3.3kg so I had steadily been losing weight during pregnancy due to the change in diet.

I have remained the same weight since having 4 further children.

PatFenis · 05/09/2012 00:01

Ooop since having 2 further children!!!
