If she could see 'no tits' Knightly playing Elizabeth Bennet?! And as for Matthew Mcfaddyan [sp] he just spends the entire film looking like he's had a bucket of water dumped over his head!

I like Keira Knightley. I've only ever read the book of P&P though. Not massively keen on adaptations of old books (Dickens etc) because they always disappoint.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/09/2012 00:49

Yes dreadful hair. But his shoulders. Blush

joanofarchitrave · 02/09/2012 00:49

Ah yes saggy, the lovely Michael Praed [hums 'robinnnnn, the hooooded mannnn']

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/09/2012 00:50

BitGold, I'm with you, but you should definitely watch the BBC adaptation.

CJ - it will be a maximum of 5 years before it is done again, don't worry Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/09/2012 00:51

Grin at Joan! I had the Robin soundtrack on tape! I love a bit of Clannad!

Sorry Ali, but I just couldn't get past the hair, I kept expecting it to suddenly morph into a ferret, jump off his head and scuttle away.

CJCregg · 02/09/2012 00:54

Michael Praed also the perfect Jake Lovell in Riders

bitgoldbutstillbewildered · 02/09/2012 00:54

Maybe one day Saggy. If it's on and I'm there, I'll give it a go. Smile

joanofarchitrave · 02/09/2012 00:55

Michael praed as jake lovell??? that makes NO sense

do no directors have any respect at all for literary characters

bea · 02/09/2012 00:57

.... however Matthew McFadyen plays a good bumbling darcey (just watched the bumping into each other at pemberley scene!)... and yes keira knightley is very pretty!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/09/2012 00:57

Michael Pread is too thin to be a literary hero, even a JC one.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/09/2012 01:00

But Darcy wasn't Bumbling! He was dignified, aloof and akward!

OP posts:
bea · 02/09/2012 01:01

it's so odd watching it all squished into a film... sooo used to the bbc episodes!! we're at Lydias elopement already! and the gardiners know of wicked wickham etc

joanofarchitrave · 02/09/2012 01:01

Well. Jake Lovell was supposed to be very thin. It's just that MP had this nice cutey little face and of course great hair (it was the 80s after all).

Sorry Jane, back to you. IMO Michael Mc looked too vulnerable to be a Mr D.

bea · 02/09/2012 01:02

ahh! dignified, aloof and awkward... colin firth methinks!

but bumbling because he was caught off guard! obviously!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/09/2012 01:03

I loved Michael Praid! Jason Connery was a distinct letdown as a replacement!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 02/09/2012 01:03

Of course Darcy wasn't bumbling Shock

Can you imagine Colin Firth bumbling?

FFS.

joanofarchitrave · 02/09/2012 01:04

Yes, jason had equally great hair but from the follicles down was no great shakes.

Hmm, where is he now? [googles]

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/09/2012 01:05

He was all those things in the book too.
And I definitely agree about MMs hair! It looks like slightly greasy road kill!

joanofarchitrave · 02/09/2012 01:05

'He played a vampire hunter in Brotherhood of Blood (2007)'.

Yes, that rather says it all.

CJCregg · 02/09/2012 01:12

I don't get Matthew McFaddyen at all. Even his voice on the M&S food ads really annoys me.

I have a massive girl crush on Keeley Hawes and I am most disappointed in her.

Why, Keeley, why?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/09/2012 01:16

Keeley is in it? I'm watching on plus 1 and haven't seen her yet. I don't remember her!

OP posts:
SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/09/2012 01:17

I still have a massive crush on Keeley!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 02/09/2012 01:19

No, Keeley is with MM. IRL. They met on Spooks and she left her husband for him.

Just. Don't. Understand.
