I don't know if this is a u.k wide thing but here in Glasgow so many people call a baby's dummy a tit or titty. It sounds vile .I used to hate it when my little ones had dummies and some old man would bend over the Pram and say " awww baby are you sucking your tit"?

i have never heard a dummy being called a tit, although i have seen it mentioned on mnet that it is just a fake tit and they should use the real thing Hmm

my 20mth old has a dummy, we call it a 'num num' and when my dad is visiting he calls it a dodo. meh whatever.

JollyHockeyStick · 31/08/2012 22:10

To be fair, Ally Bally is a bit forrin for us, being NE Scotland and all. I just learned it from the interweb then doric-ised it. Which is probably why my version is different to all of yours.

PumpkinPositive · 31/08/2012 22:10

My mammy used to sing Ally Bally to me when I was wee. She couldn't sing for toffee tablet, bless her, but the thought was there. (cue teeny violin)

JollyHockeyStick · 31/08/2012 22:11

700 hungry weans! I remember more now :)

jaggythistle · 31/08/2012 22:12

Oor wee schools the best wee school
The best wee school in Glesga
The only thing that's wi it
Is the badly heid maister
He goes to the pub on Saturday night
He goes to church on Sunday
To pray to god
To tie him strength
To batter a' the means on Monday.

Bloke who wrote Wee Willie Winkie lived just up the road from where I am now. Think there's a plaque inscribed to him somewhere nearby.
