I've just finished watching it (recorded it). Made the ironing and mending I had to do much more enjoyable Grin

TheBigJessie · 29/08/2012 12:52

One of my friends posted that he liked it as a facebook status.

Have never thought of him without remembering that since!

It was so clichéd. Good aboriginal beings. Bad, capitalistic humans. Depth of plot= 0.

Technoviking · 29/08/2012 12:55

It's basically Pocahontas.

amybelle1990 · 29/08/2012 12:56

YANBU

Pocahontas but prettier.

Technoviking · 29/08/2012 13:08

I quite liked it Blush. Not normally my kinda thing, but I must admit we recorded it when it was on TV so watched it over about 3 nights. Don't think I could've sat through the whole thing in the cinema

A1980 · 29/08/2012 14:53

I quite like it......runs away

buttercrumble · 29/08/2012 15:02

Amberleaf, the lovely bones film is brilliant and one of my favorites. I have the book on my shelf and never finished either. Would highly recomend the movie though.........

AmberLeaf · 29/08/2012 15:15

I tried the film a couple of times I did see it all in the end but I cant even remember how it ended!

I really wanted to like the book too as someone raved about it and then bought it for me as a present.

IloveJudgeJudy · 29/08/2012 15:21

DS2 had high expectations for this film as it's by James Cameron who directed Aliens which is one of his favourite films. It's essentially cowboys and Indians. Graphics were very good, but not as good as Aliens at all. He would recommend Aliens to anyone as it's great with a good plot. DS2 does, however, agree that the plot was not very inventive. He doesn't want to agree with you. He wanted me to write this. DS2 is 13.

CaveJohnson · 29/08/2012 15:34

I loved it too!

It was like live-action Fern Gully Grin

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 29/08/2012 15:42

IloveJudgeJudy -

tell DS2 that Aliens is one of my favourite films too, if not my favourite ("Get away from her you Bitch"). Some of the things I love about Aliens are the things I love about Avatar (strong female characters, Sigourney Weaver, Marines, avaricious Company man). Yes, Avatar is much more simplistic - but I still found it moving. Not as good as Aliens though.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 29/08/2012 16:12

The other thing I think Cameron does well is to create a setting, a world that is detailed and believable.

And to whoever said "unobtanium" was a stupid name for a mineral, I refer you to this list of funny molecules, including (my favourites) Welshite and Clitorin

Technoviking · 29/08/2012 16:20

Cameron uses flash special effects to paper over the terrible scripts, awful acting and then wins an oscar.

Ridley Scott, now THERE'S a director with vision.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 29/08/2012 16:22

Techno

Whilst I agree in general,

Sorry, Prometheus was terrible. Ridley Scott did what he could, but the script was woeful, the characters were underdeveloped so I didn't care about whatsernames self-EMCS. The woo premise was just silly. Disappointing (and not a patch on Alien or Aliens.

Technoviking · 29/08/2012 16:26

Admittedly I haven't seen Prometheus and haven't heard many good things about it. Though he rarely makes a bad film, I feel.

Cameron made loads of crap ones. The Terminator films were his last good ones.

NoComet · 29/08/2012 18:07

Shoes bought with a 100x less pain than watching aliens.

NoComet · 29/08/2012 18:08

Sorry I mean avatar, I hid at the back of the class and refused to watch alien.

And no I don't know why the teachers put on an 18 film while writing Y10/11 reports either.

Review here

It's very long and quite sweary.

NoComet · 30/08/2012 00:16

Sorry I've lost the will to live, this video review is nearly as long as the film.

ravenAK · 30/08/2012 00:28

I have to teach kids to write a 'Total Film' style review of it as a GCSE Controlled Assessment.

runningforthebusinheels · 30/08/2012 00:40

But this is cool

NoComet · 30/08/2012 01:33

Simply "I love the smell of CGI in the morning" would have done.
