Vile, disgusting man. Not content with being a rape apologist he tweeted on Sunday and referred to someone as a"window licker". A vile, derogatory term of abuse used against people with disabilities. Why is this man an elected mp? Surely people can see what a truly disgusting man he is.

As far as I have read he hasn't slimed out from under a stone yet to attempt to explain himself.

Is it me or did GG essentially stop developing at 17?

I'm looking forward to the press conference where he'll tell the press his detractors are a bunch of gaylords who bum sheep.

Jinsei · 28/08/2012 22:52

I have never heard the term window licker, but clearly George Galloway has, and I cannot believe that he didn't know it was offensive. He is a vile, sorry little excuse for a man, and I hope he gets kicked out of parliament at the next election.

EldritchCleavage · 29/08/2012 10:28

My eyebrows soared right up on reading GG says he doesn't drink. Because he does a very good impression of a man who drinks to excess on a regular basis. The eyes, the complexion, the behaviour.

GeekCool · 29/08/2012 10:54

His spokesperson apparently said GG didn't know it was offensive, he just wanted to call the guy on twitter a moron...

Hmm
scrablet · 29/08/2012 11:58

Well, GG did not just make the term up.
For those who haven't heard it...you wouldn't say it the would you? Why would you if you did not know what it meant, you would not just make it up on the spot!
He is an arse, and a sexist, racist buffoon who thinks being Scottish, teetotal and in support of some non white races makes him akin to a god.

scrablet · 29/08/2012 12:00

and ps. I hope this is political suicide, it is about time. Bradford East deserves better.

nailak · 29/08/2012 13:39

you have got to understand there are terms that I only know that are offensive through mumsnet, such as retard, moron etc i just thought it was calling someone an idiot.

and i dont think I am the only one.

scrablet · 29/08/2012 13:42

nailak, you have just taken my breath away.
Is that what you honestly thought?
retard was not offensive?
(btw,'even' calling someone an idiot is not good imho)

squoosh · 29/08/2012 13:45

nailak whatever about your own ignorance George Galloway knew full well what the term 'window licker' meant when he used it as an insult.

scrablet · 29/08/2012 14:13

quite, squoosh.

hiviolet · 29/08/2012 14:53

I didn't know what demagogue meant until I heard it used to describe George Galloway, and yep, that's him exactly.

ouryve · 29/08/2012 14:55

nailak it is not only mumsnet where these words are offensive. They are offensive anywhere.

Try going onto ravelry or delphiforums parenting forums or walking up to anyone with someone with SN or disability in their life and using any of those words and seeing what sort of reception you get.

AbsofAwesomeness · 29/08/2012 17:42

If GG didn't know what it meant, then why (being a politician and used to being in the public eye) would he use it as an insult in a VERY public manner? Surely, if you are going to do it, you'd check what the insult means before using it?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 29/08/2012 18:21

Nailak words fail me.

OP posts:
AbsofAwesomeness · 29/08/2012 18:29

Also, the timing ... using a disablist slur on a very public forum, the day before the Paralympics start, thereby guaranteeing buttloads* of publicity ...

He's stupid, but he's not THAT stupid

*technical term

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 29/08/2012 18:30

So let me get this straight. He was trying to throw an insult. So he used an insult he didn't know the meaning of? Really? Honestly?

A man who generally is of significantly above average IQ (as much as it pains me to admit that) and has an above average level of general knowledge and serves as an MP so should generally be aware of political correctness.

And his spokesman comes out saying Mr Galloway didn't know it was offensive?

Quite honestly, is his ego that big that he thinks we'll buy that piss poor excuse and we are too thick to question it?

scrablet · 29/08/2012 18:53

Yup, hmm.. Think you've nailed it.

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 29/08/2012 19:04

Camila should invite George to watch a few events at the paraolympics this week.

nailak · 29/08/2012 19:11

just to clarify, i never actually called anyone a retard, i just didnt know it was offensive before i came to mumsnet, as people around me in real life dont use the word, so i didnt need to think about it,

I dont think I am that strange tbh, I think there are lots of people who dont know disabalist words are offensive, as they dont know any or work with any disabled people.

Thanks to mumsnet I am now more aware. and also to other onlibne friends on other forums.

for example as A CHILD OF 8 or 9, spaz was used as an insult in school, , yet I never until late teens related the word spaz with a disabled person, I just didnt connect the two. The school never told us, my friends didnt know either.

Somebloke · 29/08/2012 22:33

Went on the Daily Mash to check my piss take horoscope.

Genius.

Once in a while you have a great idea and this week it requires an army uniform, a bulldozer and George Galloway?s address.

Now, can anyone lend me a bulldozer?

MamaMary · 29/08/2012 22:47

He contributes to a Lebanon-based TV station for £3,000 a time and has recently been spouting about how the West is wrong to support rebels in Syria and how Assad is one of the greatest Muslim leaders.

I've always found him repugnant.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 30/08/2012 13:16

Nailak I don't have children with SN or a disability, nor do I work with people who do, but I knew the term is offensive long before I'd even heard of MN. I also knew retard was offensive when I was a small child - which was a very, very long time ago.

And Galloway, as an MP who deals with people from all walks of life on a daily basis, will most certainly be aware of the connotations of the expression window-licker.

Mrsjay · 30/08/2012 13:22

nailark you dint know retard was offensive really ? you would call somebody a retard and not bat an eye
