To laugh when DS posts on fb that he is leaving home?

DS (16) came to rant about how unreasonable his bf's parents are (they are insisting he allows his younger brothers access to his xbox, even though the xbox was given to him).

I said I could see their reasoning, but it isn't the way I generally do things, pointing out a couple of things similar that I do in a different way (the laptop we all clubbed together to buy him for his birthday a few years ago is not for general use, neither is the Xbox he got for his 16th).

He then started ranting about me having an administrator account on his laptop, and putting parental controls on it. Rounding off with the comment 'I fucking hate you all, what have you ever done for me' and storming off to his bedroom.

Two minutes later he posted on fb that he is leaving home, knowing I had fb on the family computer downstairs.

Is it unreasonable that I find this soooo funny?

Post a comment offering to help him pack Grin

ChuffMuffin · 26/08/2012 17:32

Nope Grin. Take him a plate of cheese up. When he asks what it's for, say "to go with your whine".

FallenCaryatid · 26/08/2012 17:32

Why not comment, asking for all his friends to volunteer to put him up for a fortnight a time?

picnicbasketcase · 26/08/2012 17:33

My DS is only ten but I'm rather looking forward to laughing at his inevitable Kevin moments Grin

Mrsjay · 26/08/2012 17:33

He is a bit dramatic isnt he Grin maybe you should 'like' his comment and watch his head implode

froggies · 26/08/2012 17:33

He has got a wee list of people asking after him. So tempted to 'like' his comment.

Not hearing any packing sounds. Damn.

Mrsjay · 26/08/2012 17:34

He will defriend you but it is quite funny

mrsscoob · 26/08/2012 17:35

I would definitely "like" it Grin

froggies · 26/08/2012 17:36

It is his favourite for dinner tonight too. He may just be arsey enough to refuse it. Good job we have a dog.

Comment that you've just finished ironing his undies if he wants to pack them. Oh and remind him to take flopsy his favourite cuddly toy with him as you worry that he won't be able to get to sleep without it.

SecretNutellaMedallist · 26/08/2012 17:43

Froggies, perhaps you should comment that you can't hear any sounds of packing and does he need any help?

froggies · 26/08/2012 17:44

He says he is packing his things 'this week'.
He will so regret this public display of teen angst, the kids at school will not let him forget it if he doesn't actually go through with it.

Why have you got parental contral on a 16 year old laptop

FallenCaryatid · 26/08/2012 17:47

'Why have you got parental contral on a 16 year old laptop'

Because sometimes you don't want them accessing Redtube and the like?
16 is very different to 18, how old are your children?

JumpingThroughMoreHoops · 26/08/2012 17:47

Why have you got your children on your FB?

I dumped mine as soon as my wall got littered with absolute crap

MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 26/08/2012 17:48

I suggest you use your FB status to advertise your newly 'Spare' room.

McHappyPants2012 · 26/08/2012 17:48

6 and 3 but a 16 year old by law is allowed to have sex.

BonkeyMollocks · 26/08/2012 17:50

I said I was leaving home at 17.

I left the next day Wink .

But yes you should like his comment Grin

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 26/08/2012 17:51

Doesn't mean you want them accessing hard core pornography which you might have a huge moral problem with though, does it?

lola88 · 26/08/2012 17:52

No my mums reaction to that was i'll get your suitcase you can pack it yourself, do you need bus fare to the homeless unit? hehe

JustFabulous · 26/08/2012 17:53

"6 and 3 but a 16 year old by law is allowed to have sex."

ha ha ha ha ha

FallenCaryatid · 26/08/2012 17:53

'6 and 3 but a 16 year old by law is allowed to have sex.'

Confused Yes, I was happily having sex at 16, and I wouldn't object to either of mine being in a sexual relationship either.
But I don't want him to confuse sex and relationships with porn, or watching endless porn on the laptop instead of becoming involved with real women.

JustFabulous · 26/08/2012 17:53

I have an eleven year old "Kevin" and as yet it isn't funny...

froggies · 26/08/2012 17:54

The parental controls limit his time, so that it cuts off at 11pm, otherwise he stays on it until the early hours and he has to get up at 7am for school. They also prevent access to 18+ games and sites. He uses it mainly downstairs as the wifi reception is better there, and his sisters are only 3 & 7. Plus, he is 16, not 18. As I said to him, until he is 18 or leaves home, I will apply restrictions that are appropriate to his age. Hence why he said he is leading home.

I have no problem with him being on my fb, he uses it mainly for chat, and it can be a useful way to get messages to him when he has used all of his phone credit and I am at college.

Post on FB that you will be turning his room in to a sewing/reading/walk in wardrobe room as soon as he has gone, then go up and start measuring the room and saying out loud where you will be putting things, go on dare you
