Some shitty chocolate lolly maker and a foot spa filled with beads were just 2 of a plethora of shite advertised on telly.

Wtf?

Do people really buy this stuff?

my little boy wants the moshi monster hq and the trashies one for christmas. he has recently had a 20 pound trash truck and the squicky creature it sweeps up cost another ten pound...it is beyond weird what toys are popular these days

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 26/08/2012 16:49

Actually "elefun" is quite a cute game for smaller children. If it's the one where the stuff blows out of his trunk and you catch it with a net?

When DS was little he loved it.

I pestered my Mum to get me a hair braiding machine. I begged and begged and finally got it after about a year.

Within 30 seconds I had made such a mess in my hair - my Mum had to cut the machine out and I had to have a home made mullet cut.

Waitingforastartofall · 26/08/2012 17:05

i also had to cut my hair after getting it stuck in a braiding machine, one of the ones where you put three stands under a little hook and off you go. i was gutted. then did it again leanin into a fan to do a funny voice...

Vagaceratops · 26/08/2012 17:15

Thats the one :(

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 26/08/2012 17:17

I also find that many toys nowadays do one thing and one thing only. So the ridiculous bead foot spa thing can only be used for that. Old fashioned wooden blocks, plain lego, even barbie dolls are more versatile.

Waitingforastartofall · 26/08/2012 17:20

yep, the beady foot spa was 24 pound, 30 in argos but got it off amazon. I am intrigued to see what its like but am not holding out much hope for it being spectacular!.

That braiding machine hurt like a bitch! never used it again after that just braided every doll in sight!

TheCrackFox · 26/08/2012 17:31

The foot spa thing really is dire. A foot spa for an adult is a truly shitty present but I guess it might be vaguely thoughtful for someone who is on their feet all day. Your average 7yr old girl will play with it for about 5 mins before realising it is pointless.

What I would like to know is who buys this sort of crap for a child?

toy cleaning trolley

Waitingforastartofall · 26/08/2012 17:32

yep i think sd will soon go off it, and how many of those beads am i going to hoover up!

TheCrackFox · 26/08/2012 17:38

Make sure that you keep the box and then you can car boot it later and palm it off on some poor unsuspecting soul.

Still, it will be a valuable lesson for your DSD that the more a product is advertised the less you actually need it.

RubixCube · 26/08/2012 17:39

I hate toys that have loads of parts.I bought my ds a 50Pound elc garage only for him to take it all apart and lose the bits Angry

RubixCube · 26/08/2012 17:50

I remember when i finally got my much wanted furby it used to say exactly the stuff as my friends when it was supposed to say different phrases with each furby and copy you.I used to make my mum take a screw driver down town with us as one day it went off like an alarm all around town and because the battery bit was screwed we had to walk it home like it.It was really loud Grin

ReindeerBollocks · 26/08/2012 17:54

I think we buried our furby in the garden - either that or we zapped it in the microwave - my goodness they were annoying toys.

RubixCube · 26/08/2012 17:57

They're £60 in Toys r us Hmm They are not that great

Waitingforastartofall · 26/08/2012 18:19

their is a new furby coming out, honest to god it looks like the scariest thing ever. i used to make mine face the wall at night cause i thought people were watching through its eyes. shudder
