two women in wheelchairs fighting outside

A bit shocked by what i've just seen.

An elderly women was being pushed in a wheelchair by a youngish man. i've seen them pass by several times before. The man looks constantly fed up and exhausted and bends as if he's struggling to push the chair. i've seen him yell at her a few times too. (can't hear anything though as i'm on a third floor).

Anyway today was pretty much the same. i looked away for a minute and when i looked back, the man was resting against the fence outside my house and another woman in a wheelchair had emerged. Their body language looked tense, and it seemed they were arguing. The man appeared to be trying to calm the situation. But then the 2nd woman started hitting the 1st. full on punches. and then the 1st began retaliating. They're both big women and looked like they were really doing damage to each other. The man yelled something then stormed away.

The 2nd women wheeled herself away, leaving the first sitting outside. She seemed unable to wheel herself. I got my shoes on to go outside and check on her but by the time i got out she had gone.

am i being unreasonable for being REALLY curious as to wtf was going on and wanting to approach them next time they pass? Or should i give the police a phone?

YABU to really wonder what is going on. YWBU not to call the Police while it was going on.

Caerlaverock · 23/08/2012 18:23

Are you in Scotland?

"Are you in Scotland?"

ROLF! Grin

I

LynetteScavo · 23/08/2012 18:26

I'm feeling sorry for the poor bloke. I'm imagining him to be really thin and pastey looking.

missymoomoomee · 23/08/2012 18:27

Agree with MrsTerry you should have called the police instead of standing gawping at them.

Caerlaverock · 23/08/2012 18:27

God I am lolling myself . I meant I saw something similar last week and was wondering if it was the same people.

Kabooooom · 23/08/2012 18:30

Why on earth would you approach them? It is non of your business.

And if it was that bad, then you should of called the police at the time. No point ringing afterwards is there?

WorraLiberty · 23/08/2012 18:30

Caerlaverock I've never seen such a random reply...I can't stop laughing at it Grin

OP how long did it take you to get your shoes on then?

LynetteScavo · 23/08/2012 18:31

So, your questions are;

  • am i being unreasonable for being REALLY curious as to wtf was going on
-and wanting to approach them next time they pass?

YANBU to be curious. I'm curious about most people who pass my house.

YABU to want to approach them....why would you? What would you say??

If you see people punching each other out side your house and think the police could get there in time/diffuse the situation, the by all means call them. But late though, IMO.

LynetteScavo · 23/08/2012 18:33

From now on I'm going to use "Are you in Scotland?" as my default post.

BlackberryIce · 23/08/2012 18:33

Sounds more like the chatsworth estate!

Caerlaverock · 23/08/2012 18:34

I am just going to reply to all threads with 'are you in Scotland' from now on

Caerlaverock · 23/08/2012 18:34

Ha lynette

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 23/08/2012 18:38

I think you're being very unreasonable.

Take the wheelchairs out of the equasion and would you really consider approaching two people arguing in this way? Would you find ut entertaining?

I think you're being quite condescending actually.

MsBrown · 23/08/2012 18:39

Yes, i'm in Scotland. Hope it's not the same people.

To be honest it was over really quickly. As in a minute of punches. If it was going on for a while then i'd definitely have phoned the police during the fight. But i'm wondering if i should phone them now and report it? That way if anyone sees anything similar, they'll have more to go on?

As i say, i live on the third floor, so it took a few minutes for me to get my shoes on, grab a coat for dd and go down.

I was thinking of approaching them next time i see them just to see if everything was okay. (realise now though that would be a bit wierd).

I'm still feeling really nosey though and want to know what was going on!

Yes, marymotherofcheeses of course i would! The women was really old and physically restricted. If i saw any old injured women standing alone, i'd approach them in a shot. But unfortunately by the time i got down today, she had gone. I think the man must have returned for her.

It wasn't 'entertaining'. Just one of those things carcrash type scenarios i couldn't look away from. It was just so shocking.

Is it Glasgow?

Caerlaverock · 23/08/2012 18:42

Edinburgh?

MsBrown · 23/08/2012 18:44

Lanarkshire! maybe they get around though?

the whole thing's got me really concerned. I don't know if the man is a family member or a paid carer. i feel like someone should be alerted of what happened, but i don't know who?

I'm really concerned about the 1st women.

LynetteScavo · 23/08/2012 18:45

Inverness?

WorraLiberty · 23/08/2012 18:47

But surely if either of them want to report the other one to the Police, they will?

lljkk · 23/08/2012 18:47

Er, paralympic boxing training? Inspired by Nicola Adams?

I was gonna say "Chick fight! Chick fight!" and suggest you video it for UTube.

But I have a juvenile streak & that's just a fantasy reaction I hope.

SoleSource · 23/08/2012 18:52

Nothing you can do except call police nrxt time dtraight away. Approaching the first Lady might be O.K but you risk being told to bugger off or she may wabt to talk to someone.

Nowt strange as folk.

PretzelTime · 23/08/2012 20:23

Is wheelchair fights a common problem in Scotland?

Caerlaverock · 23/08/2012 20:27

It would appear so
