two women in wheelchairs fighting outside

A bit shocked by what i've just seen.

An elderly women was being pushed in a wheelchair by a youngish man. i've seen them pass by several times before. The man looks constantly fed up and exhausted and bends as if he's struggling to push the chair. i've seen him yell at her a few times too. (can't hear anything though as i'm on a third floor).

Anyway today was pretty much the same. i looked away for a minute and when i looked back, the man was resting against the fence outside my house and another woman in a wheelchair had emerged. Their body language looked tense, and it seemed they were arguing. The man appeared to be trying to calm the situation. But then the 2nd woman started hitting the 1st. full on punches. and then the 1st began retaliating. They're both big women and looked like they were really doing damage to each other. The man yelled something then stormed away.

The 2nd women wheeled herself away, leaving the first sitting outside. She seemed unable to wheel herself. I got my shoes on to go outside and check on her but by the time i got out she had gone.

am i being unreasonable for being REALLY curious as to wtf was going on and wanting to approach them next time they pass? Or should i give the police a phone?

Why is it so shocking that two people in wheelchairs are fighting!? I hate this kind of patronising attitude. People in wheelchairs can be nice or total shits just like anyone else!

pickofthepops · 23/08/2012 21:41

Should we expect wheelchair fighting at the 2014 commonwealth games in Glasgow?

CrispyCod · 23/08/2012 22:51

Paralympic boxing practice? The guy was the referee?

Jenstar21 · 24/08/2012 00:55

Wheelchair fighting is our national sport north of the border, don't you know? :)
Seriously, though, there's a woman in Edinburgh in a wheelchair who gets pushed around by her son who is really abusive to folk. Edinburgh posters will probably know who I mean. They used to have the stand selling 'The Scotsman' at the east end of Princes St, by Register House. They were very alike, and have been around for years.... She threw chips at me once when I was a student, waiting to cross by the Balmoral!!

BadLad · 24/08/2012 02:45

The Scotland references are going over my head.

I was going to ask Are you in Benidorm, series 2?

toofattorun · 24/08/2012 03:20

I live in Scotland? Should I move?

porcamiseria · 24/08/2012 09:40

this is simultaneously sad, depressing and very funny

poachedeggs · 24/08/2012 09:45

I love Mumsnet's response to this thread - torn between powerful PC urges and the fact that it's really funny Grin

fluffyraggies · 24/08/2012 09:48

poachedeggs - exactly Grin

I've just re-read the OP and it's reminded me off a time when I was doing some "volunteering" in an lld peoples home. Two old ladies had a physical fight over who had won the Bingo.

KenLeeeeeee · 24/08/2012 10:08

My ex-boyfriend used a wheelchair and was just as prone to getting into bar fights as any 20 year old lad. I don't think wheelchairs render someone more or less likely to pick fights with other people...

Mrsjay · 24/08/2012 10:12

If you approached them she may have lamped you Grin yanbu to be nosey though

CrispyCod · 24/08/2012 10:12

Grin Lynette

Mrsjay · 24/08/2012 10:13

Mrsjay · 24/08/2012 10:14

everybodysang · 24/08/2012 10:26

Jenstar I know exactly who you are talking about!

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 24/08/2012 10:30

the 'are you on scotland?' has made my day! Grin

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 24/08/2012 10:30

in Blush

threesocksmorgan · 24/08/2012 10:36

wtf
so if you saw 2 people having a fight, would you ring the police.
or is cos they are in wheelchairs it suddenly becomes entertainment!!

Mrsjay · 24/08/2012 10:38

ID find able bodied women fighting just as entertaining tbh but i am a right busy body

Bluestocking · 24/08/2012 11:59

Are you in an episode of Rab C Nesbitt?

Lonelylou · 24/08/2012 12:07

This made I laff Grin. I think some people who are wheel chair bound must get fed up of being patronised and love a bldy good scrap!

I'm gunna be like that when I'm a pensioner.

auldspinster · 24/08/2012 12:12

I saw a couple of women in wheelchairs by the bus stop at the foot of Leith Walk having words on Wednesday, maybe it is a Scottish thing.

northernmonkey · 24/08/2012 12:12

I dont understand the importance of wheelchairs??
Wtf did the fact that these ladies being in wheelchairs have to do with the fact that the were fighting Confused

Op if I were you, I would go back to the start, take out the wheelchairs and you will very quickly see that yabu to be curious cause its none of your business. Ya also bu by not phoning the police!!
