I didn't think anything of it - until DH expressed his disapproval! I don't see the harm in it. Am I being unreasonable?

whats the problem with a boy having a toy buggy.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 21/08/2012 17:20

YANBU at all. I think all the boys I have childminded have pushed the toy buggy I have at one time or other.

Did your DH ever push your DS in his buggy??? Grin Perhaps you should mention this to him...

Petsinmyolympicpudenda · 21/08/2012 17:20

I would.
toddler ds has a buggy, play kitchen, play cleaning trolley and a hoover

His future wife will love me, he wil be well trained

MrsKeithRichards · 21/08/2012 17:20

Yanbu

Early learning do a nice cheap blue one. I git that as all the other cheap ones were Barbie pink!

WilsonFrickett · 21/08/2012 17:20

YANBU. My DS loved the one at nursery but we didn't have room for one. Because of his kitchen set Grin You'll get one cheap on ebay or freecycle I would imagine too.

MyLastDuchess · 21/08/2012 17:21

Your DH is being ridiculous.

My son has one and he loves it.

valiumredhead · 21/08/2012 17:23

Ds had one at 2.5 yrs -loved it!

glenthebattleostrich · 21/08/2012 17:24

Does your DH disapprove of pushing his own son in a real buggy?

Get your son a buggy, and a hoover and a kitchen. FGS don't send him off to some poor unsuspecting woman with no idea what the funny clothes cupboard in the kitchen is for (yes DH / MIL I am looking at both of you)

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 21/08/2012 17:24

Does your DH ever push your DS in a buggy? If so, DS is just copying his dad!

Sawdust · 21/08/2012 17:26

Chaz beat me to it! And if he doesn't, he ought to!

Sawdust · 21/08/2012 17:26

(dad should push pram that is, not son should copy dad.)

(Not that he shouldn't)

YANBU! Grin

streakybacon · 21/08/2012 17:27

Ds (now 13) had one, with twins - one pink and one blue Grin. He'll be dead embarrassed if I remind him .

PuffPants · 21/08/2012 17:28

YANBU. It has wheels. They love wheels! I went the whole hog and got a pink one Wink

chandellina · 21/08/2012 17:30

Yanbu, my son got one at 2.5 and at 4 he still plays with it and the baby doll too. He got it just around the time I was pregnant with dd so it tied in nicely with that. I see boys with them all the time.

LucieMay · 21/08/2012 17:31

My son used to have a little blue pushchair toy and used to push his cars around in it. He is generally very obsessed with wheels!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 21/08/2012 17:34

They do love wheels

We had something this for DS1

www.elc.co.uk/Shopping-Trolley/134950,default,pd.html

and we had to take it on our supermarket trips.

ODearMe · 21/08/2012 17:38

I got a blue one, so don't understand the fuss! Wink
I am watching him tearing around the garden with it now and having the time of his life! I think DH is worried we are encouraging effeminate behaviour in him, which I don't agree with. I believe we are encouraging him with what interests him - and so what if what interests him is associated with a female stereotype? Like Pets said - it is a good example to buy our sons toy kitchens; it isn't right to make them taboo at this stage as it will stay with them until adulthood!

My son had one - used to push his teddy in it when we went for a walk. He loved it for about a year.

ODearMe · 21/08/2012 17:39

Awww Caz, that made me laugh! Bet it got a few smiles from fellow shoppers too! :)

so he is worried his son will turn gay ( or am i totally wrong) so what if he does decide to be gay

wasabipeanut · 21/08/2012 17:47

FFS what is it with gender related threads today? YANBU. Your DH is. My DS1 had a red mini Graco stroller from about 14 months and loved it until he was about 3. DS1 also enjoys football, running, getting dirty etc. and I am constantly being told "he is a typical boy." (whatever that means). He also likes having his toe nails painted in Summer.

Is this indicative of anything to do with his future sexual orientation? No.

OpenMindedSceptic · 21/08/2012 17:47

I bought one when DS was 17 months and it is still going strong, he plays with it everyday!

thisisyesterday · 21/08/2012 17:49

you should exercise caution.

i have heard of boys catching gay if they go near babies, pushchairs and the colour pink.
i'd advise not wearing pink yourself in case your son catches gay from it.
also keep him away from any babies and pushchairs including real ones.

your husband is right to be concerned. he himself should stay away from his son and ensure he NEVER does anything involving child care, kitchen work or pink things in case he also catches gay- some people think it's only something small children can catch but adults can get it too :(

Hairtodayandgonetomorrow · 21/08/2012 17:49

DS loves his, and its pink. Tell your DH that he likes it because it has wheels, that might put a masculine enough spin on it for him.

Shesparkles · 21/08/2012 17:52

Tell DH to man up! I know loads of wee boys who have had toy buggis, including mine, and he's 10 now and not gay!
